Show Mapleton News Mrs. Blake Everett Phone 489-4837 ' Mapleton PTA held election night March 10. The following officers were elected for the coming year: Mrs. Donna Sor-enson, Sor-enson, president; Robert Hurst, vice-president, and Mrs. Marie Barney, secretary and treasurer. treasur-er. During the evening a number num-ber of paintings were presented to the school which were painted paint-ed and donated by Mapleton residents. Those who gave pictures pic-tures were Freeman Bird, his wife, Eva Bird, R. W. Davidson, Arlena Holley, Gretha Andrea-son, Andrea-son, Fae Jensen and Mrs. Helen Wiscombe. A special assembly will be held March 17 to present pre-sent the paintings to the school children and the artist of each picture will be introduced. The school project for the year was discussed and Dr. Henry Nicholes was the speaker speak-er for- the evening. Bert Gividen of Riverside, California, and his two daughters daugh-ters paid a short visit to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vance Gividen last week. He came up to buy a new car in Spanish Fork. Another daughter of the Gividens and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Williams of Lander, Wyoming, also visited last week. Mrs. Zina Dibble is seriously ill in the Utah Valley Hospital. Her brother, Joe Binks, and his wife came up from California to see her, and also to visit with a brother, Royal Binks, who also has been in the hospital hos-pital this past week. The annual Relief Society birthday party was held Wednesday Wed-nesday after the literature lesson les-son which was given by Alma Whiting. A program was presented pre-sented and a nice lunch was served at noon. There will be a quilting at the home of Belva Wentz, Friday. Fri-day. Pot luck will be served at noon, and any ward member who wishes is invited to come. The Mapleton Second Ward Relief Society is just completing complet-ing a sewing class this wepk. This is the third in a series of instructions that have been given the past year. The group started with a blouse and an apron, then in the fall made a nice house dress and in this class they are making a best dress. This fall they are planning plan-ning to make a coat. They have been given special training in how to fit patterns and choose materials as well as all of the handy hints about how to give the garment a more professional look. Instructors for the group have been Doris Thompson, La-Veta La-Veta Westwood, Merilyn Tuttle and Norma Johnson. Sixteen women were in the class this time and 22 completed the instruction in-struction course last fall. Max Hall and Barbara Murray Mur-ray were both taken to the Utah Valley Hospital this week. Barbara is having major surgery sur-gery and Max is being treated for a heart condition. Camp Union DUP was held Thursday at the home of Ber-niece Ber-niece Everett. Captain Vivian Everett conducted and the lesson les-son was given by Velma Williams. Wil-liams. Grace Harmer was assisting as-sisting hostess. Camp Mapleton DUP was held at the home of Cora Clegg. The lesson was given by Arlena Holley. Inez Harmer and Annie Gividen were assisting hostesses. hostes-ses. Arrange lemon-coated avocado avoca-do wedges around edges of et-tuce et-tuce cups. Spoon a mixture of chopped bologna and pickle relish into the centers. Garnish with dab of mayonnaise. It's an easy appetiber-salad. |
