Show World tour described at club meeting Dr. Robert Poll, professor of history at BYU and a member of the honorary committee, was the guest speaker at the Alpha Beta Club meeting Friday when Mrs. Sterling Price was hostess. hos-tess. Dr. Poll titled his talk "Around the World in 70 Days" and it consisted of a review of the tour he conducted recently. He showed a number of beautiful beauti-ful colored slides of the countries coun-tries visited commenting briefly brief-ly on the various places. He said there were only four days of actual traveling time and 66 days sight-seeing. Japan and Hong Kong he described as busy with much activity, and Africa as going through a big transition period. The Holy Land was also visited. He noted not-ed that traveling brings meaning mean-ing into one's life and that even though one visits the same place often, there is always something new to see. A tribute was given at the meeting to Ethel Weight, a former club member, by Mrs. W. W. Brockbank, and Mich-I ael Clyde entertained with two piano selections. The pledge was led by Mrs. Earl Condie. Mrs. Thomas Smith, president, presi-dent, was in charge and announced an-nounced the next meeting on March 19, at the home of Mrs. Erling Roylance. The hostess served refreshments refresh-ments at the close of the program pro-gram to club members. Merrill Carter and Effie Kelsey were guests. Cast in play Steve Poulsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold D. Poulson of 794 South 7th East, this city, is a member of the cast oi Arthur Miller's Pulitzer prize play, "Death of a Salesman," at the University of RedlandS: Redland, Calif., said word received re-ceived here this week. Returns home Mrs. Eugene Wood has re-: re-: turned home after spending several days in the Utah Vallej Hosiptal where she underwenl observation and treatment. |
