Show IPhm mmkfl hit ki Mif 4 sddmfim Parades, children's races, rodeo, breakfast, concessions planned Citizens are invited to bring their friends and join in the big two-day holiday celebration celebra-tion in Springville, July 3 and 4. Friday, July 3, activities will begin at 4 p.m., when the carnival opens at the city park. Concession stands will be ready and entertainment for the kiddies will be provided as well as carnival booths for the teenagers and parents. Kid's parade At 6 p.m. the children's parade pa-rade will be held on Main Street from the 4th South to Center Street. Prizes will go to the best float, the runner-up runner-up float and to the Primary group with the largest percentage percen-tage of children in it, Follow ing the parade, concession stands and carnival activities will be available on the park until 9 p.m. July Fourth Beginning at 6 p.m., July Fourth, and continuing to 9:30 a.m., a holiday breakfast will be served at the city park under un-der the direction of the First Ward, sponsors of the celebration. celebra-tion. From 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. carnival car-nival activities will be held and concession stands will be in operation supplying foods and novelties of all kinds. Beginning at 11 a.m., there will be a big racing program carried out for the youngsters ages 4 to 12 years. Pnzes for every participant r.nl special prizes for the winners will be given. There will be separate races for boys and girls. A 12 year eld wheelbarrow race, a 3-legged race, sack race are being planned plus other types. Eugene Gibbs is in charge of this phase of the entertainment. entertain-ment. Mammoth parade At 2 p.m;, Springville's mammoth parade will be seen on Main Street. The parade will begin at Fourth South and all floats should line up on First East street north of Fourth South. It will continue along Main Street north to Second North. The parade is expected to be one of the biggest, big-gest, better parades produced here with some 60 units. The prize float will be picked from those made in Springville. Spring-ville. It will be given a cash award. Martin Conover is parade pa-rade chairman. It will be themed to "Our American Heritage." Rodeo at 8 p.m. Adding to the festivities of the July 4th celebration will be the big rodeo at 8 p.m. at the North Park andsponsored by the Hobble Creek Riding Club. . The roCeo will feature five events with stock furnished by Tony Meskaro. Riding on their mounts and being introduced at the rodeo will be Queen Peggy Gviffiths of Spanish Fork and her attendants, Kathleen Koyle and Geanie Lott. Miss Koyle is first attendant at-tendant from Spanish Fork and Miss Lott is second attendant at-tendant from Orein. Working on the committee for the rodeo which is chair-maned chair-maned by Fred Diamond are ! Ross Barney, president snd M. D. Peay, secretary. Ken Gill-man Gill-man will be the announcer. The rodeo will include bareback bare-back riding, saddle bronc riding, rid-ing, wild cow mliking, bull riding, rid-ing, calf roping and specialty acts between these events. |
