Devils tame Lions Good team scoring plus the usual outstanding individual performances by the Red Devils Dev-ils paid off and the Payson Lions were tamed 52-70 by the Devils in their contest at Pay-son Pay-son last Friday night. Every Springville High School's gymnasium is expected to be packed to the rafters again Friday night when the Red Devils meet the Orem Tigers in their next Region 5 basketball contest. The game will get under un-der way at 8 p.m. and will be preceded by the Jayvee contest at 6:15. Coach Hal Jensen may be in somewhat of a dilemma as to how to play against the Orem club after Orem's stalling tactics tac-tics used to keep Provo from scoring high in their game at Orem last Friday. Provo was only able to get 31 points .while the Tigers collected 25. This ball-controlled type of game may be used against the Red Devils or they may be surprised sur-prised with a running attack, coupled with a sticky defense. At any rate, the contest looms as a close one and may be starting player for the Red Devils scored well with Rogei Reid getting high game score of 24, Bill Allred, 15; Ron Bird 14; Richard Thorpe, 10; and Gary Nielson, 6. Warr with 20 and Olsen (who incidently, was just named Ail-American for Payson football) tanked 11, to tie with Worthington. Springville's Jayvees won their game by a 24 point margin mar-gin in the preliminary game.
