Show I SU receives grant The office of U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch has announced that a grant of $'J(iO,000 has been made to Southern Utah State College by the U.S. Department of Mutation, Strengthening Developing Institutions Program (SDIP). The three-year grant will provide continued support for the Learning Center and the Multi-Cultural Multi-Cultural Center including the addition of a Multi-Cultural Multi-Cultural historian, who is currently being selected. The historian will implement an American Indian history course, and introduce courses in third world history. The Learning Center will increase tutorial and learning enhancement services to students, helping them to take advantage of all college resources and become independent learners. The larger part of the grant will be used for an activity entitled Keform of the Curriculum. The grant will allow selected faculty members to take short-term leave to update up-date and improve their curriculum specialties. Over the next three years, approximately one-third of the SUSC faculty will be given this special support. The Department of Business will be funded to develop curriculum in small business management and establish a small business institute, which will make management information and assistance available to the business owners in SUSC's service area. |
