Show SU cites scholars Academic scholarships lor the 1981-82 school year at Southern I'tah State College have been awarded to several Iron County students enrolled in business programs offered through the SUSC School of Business and Technology, The scholarships have been awarded on the basis of each student's academic performance at SUSC and because of the achievements each has made in his or her specific field of study. "Scholarship amounts range from $111 to $fuo," said Robert A. Moore, associate professor of business, "and are being awarded to continuing students, those in their sophomore, junior or senior year at SUSC." "Nationally, about 22 percent of all college or university students are majoring in a business subject," Moore said. "This is also happening at SUSC, making the business department the fastest growing area on campus." Majors and minors are offered at SUSC in accounting, ac-counting, business administration ad-ministration and business teacher education. Minors are also offered in economics, executive secretary and marketing, with certificates of completion awarded lor one-year clerical and two-year secretarial , programs. Listed alphabetically, area recipients are Michael Carter, a senior with a double major in accounting and business administration, is the recipient of the llerbst Foundation Scholarship. Originally from Minersvilie, he is a 1971 graduate of Beaver High School. Carter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Max R. Carter, Minersvilie. Miner-svilie. He is married to Vickie Riddle, Cedar City, and they are the pel rents of two children. Mark G. Kenney will attend SUSC as' the recipient of a First Security Bank Scholarship. The junior accounting major is a l!)7(i graduate of Cedar High School, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kenney, Cedar City. He is married to Teresa Dunnell, originally from Moab. Jeffrey Douglas Maxwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas 0. Maxwell, Max-well, Cedar City, is the recipient of a Brenner-Herbst-Dunham Scholarship. Scholar-ship. The 1977 graduate of Cedar High School is majoring in accounting at SUSC with minors in business ad- ( ministration and computer com-puter science. He is a sophomore. v Susan Nielson, a 1980 graduate of Cedar High School, is also receiving a Brenner-Herbst-Dunham Scholarship. She is a sophomore at SUSC majoring in secretarial science. The scholarship recipient is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nielson, Cedar City. Eric Schmutz, a junior majoring in business administration with a minor in accounting, ac-counting, is the recipient of a Utah International Scholarship. The 1977 Cedar High School graduate is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon W. Schmutz, Sch-mutz, Cedar City. Michael J. Seely, son of Mr, and Mrs. L.C. Seely Jr., Cedar City, will attend school on a First Security Bank Scholarship. The SUSC junior is majoring in accounting with a minor in business administration. ad-ministration.
