Show Local woman wins scholarship Cedar High School graduate Kathryn Anne Nelson has been awarded a full-tuition Science Faculty Scholarship for the 1981-82 1981-82 school year at Southern Utah State College. "Miss Nelson was selected for the $519 award from a group of applicants on the basis of her high school grade point average and general scholastic aptitude ap-titude in the area of biological sciences," said B. Al Tait, chairman of the SUSC Department of Life Sciences. "We are , pleased to award the scholarship to this outstanding out-standing applicant." Nelson is the daughter of Barbara Young and the late Yorke Nelson, Cedar City. The 1981 CHS graduate is a member of the National Honor Society. She lettered in volleyball and basketball for three years at CHS, being named the most inspirational volleyball player and most valuable basketball player her senior year. She was named to the 1981 All-State All-State Basketball Team, second squad. The SUSC freshman was active in music at CHS, a member of the school orchestra, band and acappella choir, and was named to the 1981 All-State Choir. She was sophomore class president and 1981 president of the Girls Athletic Association. She plans to major in biology and physical education at SUSC.
