Show Former Paro wan Resident Graduates with "Honors" Ronald Lee Halterman, son of Joseph (Bud) and Lucille Halterman, originally of Parowan, has graduated with "highest honors" in chemistry from the University of California-Riverside. California-Riverside. Halterman, now a native of San Bernadino, Calif., received numerous academic awards at the university's commencement exercises June 15. Besides receiving the highest award of any chemistry graduate, Halterman was named the year's "Outstanding Male Student in the College of Natural and Agricultural Science," was recipient of the University's "Alumni Award for 1980," and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Halterman was offered teaching assistantships and scholarships to the California Institute of Technology, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of California-Berkeley, California-Berkeley, and has elected to pursue his graduate work in chemistry at Berkeley. Halterman's grandparents grand-parents were the late Robert Lee and Bertha Butella Halterman of Parowan. He has a number of other relatives living in Iron County. |
