As announced in the July 3 edition of the Iron County Record, ownership . and editorial control of this newspaper have changed hands. Assuming ownership and the position of publisher, beginning with this week's issue, will be Mike Stcnsfield. The new editor of the Record will be Lee Warnick. No other changes in the staff or correspondents are planned, Stan-sfield Stan-sfield has announced, and newspaper offices will remain in the Rollo Publishing Co. building at 90 W. Hoover Ave. Stansfield also announced that the newspaper's schedule and deadlines will not change. If will continue to be received by Iron County residents on Thursday, and all advertising and articles will still be due at 5 p.m. Monday. Stansfield, a native of Springville, ' Utah, brings a wide variety of experience ex-perience in newspaper management and community service to his new position. Just before coming to Cedar City, he served as president and publisher . of Newtah, Inc., publishers of the American Fork Citizen and Lehi Free Press. He has also worked as advertising ad-vertising manager for the Price Sun-Advocate Sun-Advocate and Emery County Progress, and as an account executive for KSL-TV in Salt Lake City. Stansfield is a graduate of Brigham Young University, where he majored in communications and minored in business administration. As hobbies, Stansfield likes to golf, read, fish, ski and involve himself in community affairs. Stansfield is married to the former Mary Sumner of Provo, and he has two children-Brooke,3, and Cody 20 months. They live in the Cedar Knolls . section of Cedar City. Of his new position, Stansfield says: "I look forward to living and working in Iron County. We plan on continuing the tradition of journalistic excellence provided by the Rollo family since the early days of this century." "There is no doubt that the Iron County Record has been the voice of this area for many years, and we hope to earn the confidence and trust of our readers, so as to continue this fine tradition," concludes Stansfield. Warnick, from Salt Lake City, most recently worked with the Washington Bureau of the Desert News. While there, he wrote stories on the MX missile system, land use, synthetic fuels and environmental issues, and followed the Utah Congressional delegation in Washington. He also filled several editorial positions for the award-winning Daily Universe of Brigham Young University, where he graduated in . journalism. He also edited the Ricks College Scroll, and has worked in various other capacities in newspaper and magazine publishing over the . past eight years. He is the recipient of several state, regional and national writing awards in journalism. In his spare time, Warnick enjoys playing softball and engaging in other outdoor activities, reading, being involved in community and political matters and working as an amateur meteorologist. He wife Lori and 14 month Jennifer live in Northwest Cedar City. "I will personally see that the fine job Klien Rollo has done in serving the county through effective news coverage will be continued," says Warnick. "In addition, we intend to start some new features and programs over the next several months which will make the Record even more interesting and lively, while invloving readers to a greater degree. "We intend to be an active part of the community," Warnick continues," con-tinues," and will strive, through well-researched, well-researched, thoughtful looks at issues, to constructively work with readers toward making Iron County an even better place to live. "Our family appreciates the warmth with which we have been received here," Warnick concluded, "and I will do my best to repay that warmth with effective service to you, the reader, and to our community."
