BY MEL OSBORN One thing the Beaver Beavers and the Oakland Raiders have in common is that they both won championships champion-ships last year and both have two shutout losses in the past two weeks. Coach Al Marshall's Blue Machine has always been able to capitalize defensively defensive-ly in the past, and his squads have won m any contests from good defensive action. His Beavers had the chance again last Friday night to take advantage ad-vantage of Kanab on Eric Browns fumble on the Cowboy Cow-boy 12 yard line, but they couldn't quite pull it off as a fourth and one or the Kanab goal line fizzled out in the third quarter. What could have been a tie game or a 7-6 lead for Beaver ended up a 20-0 victory for the Cowboys, spoiling Beavers Homecoming. If the Beavers can polish off some of the rough edges before playoff time, the loss to Kanab will not be that demolishing statistically. Al Marshall's clubs have gone to the state finals eleven elev-en of thirteen years and several of those have been as a second place team from the Region so the fans don't need to push the panic button but-ton two early. Milford travels to meet the Cowboys next week, which will move Kanab, Beaver and Milford In a three way tie, or will have the Cowboys in possession of first, Beaver Second, and Milford third. Beaver has Parowan and North Sevier remaining on the league schedule and should remain in second. If Milford falls to Kanab, they will get a second chance to meet the Cowboys in the quarter final game since the first place team will host the third place team. The second place team will travel trav-el to Monticello for the other oth-er quarter final game. The Matchup between Kanab Ka-nab and Milford should be a good one with Brown and Johnson, of Kanab, matching Hardy, Johnson, Tolman and Puffer, of Milford. Brown is a speedster and Johnson is the bull for the Kanab offense. Those two were responsible forKanabs victory over Beaver last Friday. Brown set up Whit Bunting Bunt-ing in the first quarter for Kanab's first T.D. Scott Robertson missed the PAT leaving the score 6-0 until late in the 4th period when a late hit call set the Cowboys Cow-boys up on the Beaver 15 yard line.
