Show lips imp ton fcj BY BRIAN SHERWOOD The Mllford Tigers who are ranked fifth in the High School polls should hold on to that ranking as they rolled by Green River 55 to 6 Friday Fri-day night to the delight of the Homecoming Crowd.The Tigers looked impressive with everybody getting into the act with the fans getting a look at the younger ballplayers ball-players and liking what they j saw. I It took the Tigers five minutes to score their first i touchdown when Hardy rolled around left end where Johnson John-son and Brinkman led the way with good blocking from four yards out. Cruz kicked the extra point for a 7 to 0 lead, and from there on it was allMllford. After the ensuing kick-off the Tigers forced the Pirates to punt from their own 38 yard line where Hardy hauled It in on the Mllford 35 and returned re-turned it 65 yards, aided by a super block from Gay, to put Mllford up 13 to O.Cruz's kick was good and the Tigers led 14 to 0. With 27 seconds j left in the quarter Hardy returned the favor to Gay by flipping a one yard scoring j pass to him, Cruz kick was ! good, and the Tigers led i 21 to 0 at the end of the quarter. Coach Barnes let next years team play most of the second quarter where the youngster played on even terms with the Pirates until un-til the Tigers Coach decided he wanted to get the Tigers out of the hole after a 50 yard punt by Green Rivers King put the ball on the Tigers 10 yd line. Nine plays later Hardy hit Brinkman with a 15 yard touchdown pass and after Cruz's kick the Tigers led 28 to 0 to go In the locker room at half-time. Green River kicked off to Mllford to start the third quarter where Mllford went to work on the Pirates 45 i yard line. Four plays later Puffer scampered around right end for a 26 yard touchdown touch-down run. Cruz's kick was wide, but Mllford had a 34 to 0 advantage. The Pirates Pir-ates had the ball for three plays after the kick-off when Laney Johnson pounced on a fumble on the 42 yard line where Tolman ran 28 yards after seven plays. Cruz's kick was again good, and Mllford led 41 to 0. After two series of down's with neither team able to move the ball. Blair Coon . picked off a Green River pass on the Mllford 35 yard line where he returned it to the Mllford 29. Four plays later, Johnson ran around left end from 11 yards out and with the extra point good Mllford Increased their lead to 48 to 0. Green River received the kick-off and In seven plays drove In for their only score of the night, but the ball-game ball-game was way out of reach and It didn't give the Pirate fan's much to yell about. Mllford received the kick-off kick-off and with Chet Pearson carrying for good yardage up the middle, took the ball down to the 28 where Hardy ran it on in for his third touchdown of the night. Interceptions: Coon and Wunderllch. The Tigers travel to Kanab Thursday, October 15th to take on the Number 2 ranked Cowboys In what should be the game of the week. The Cowboys beat Beaver at Beaver Bea-ver last week, and that's not an easy chore. The Tigers will be wanting to stage an upset and with a few breaks could come home with their greatest win of the season. |
