Show REGISTRATION FOR ARCHAELOGICAL FIELD SCHOOL Registration is now open for an eight week archaeological archaeo-logical field school to excavate ex-cavate a Mormon pioneer village and a 1,000 year old Indian mound at the south end of Utah Lake this sum -mer. Participants will be excavating, ex-cavating, mapping, problem solving, surveying and doing lab processing of artifacts " from Lower Goshen and from a Fremont Indian mound, both near the present town of Goshen. Participants can register for two to six hours of undergraduate un-dergraduate credit or for graduate credit. In addition addi-tion high school students can register for a special one or teo week segment of the schdol to learn the basics of archaeology while working work-ing on the sites. Work will be conducted June 30 - Aug. 20. Lower Goshen project has been underway for several years. The town was settled set-tled in 1860 and abandoned eight years later. Students have found bottles, ceramics, ceram-ics, marbles, coins and tools all nearly 120 years old. During previous digs.stu-dents digs.stu-dents have mapped 121 foundations. foun-dations. The Fremont Indian mound about one mile northwest of the present town of Goshen was occupied between 780 A.D. and 1260 A.D.
