Show $1 million saved The Senate Appropriations Committee has accepted an amendment pushed by Sen. Jake Garn (R-Utah) eliminating elimin-ating $23 million cut In the Payments in Lieu of Taxes" program that would cost Utah counties in excess of $1 million. The PILT funds are designed de-signed to equalize the tax burden caused by tax exempt ex-empt federal lands, and the proposed cutback Is not fair to Utah and other states with exceptionally high concentrations con-centrations of such lands. |
