Show ? DUCKS UNL. .. ' RAISES FUNDS Sixty three people attended attend-ed a very sucessful fund raising banquet at the Black Steer Steak House in Beaver, Bea-ver, on April 11, for Ducks Unlimited. A social hqur was held from 6 to 7 p.m., followed follow-ed by a delicious steak dinner. din-ner. ' From 8:30 to 9 p.m. a movie was shown to explain some of the work being, done in the U.S. and Canada for the preservation of ducks in the flyways of North America. Met Johnson, of Cedar City, handled the auction at 9 p.m. The crowd was greatly great-ly entertained by his expertise exper-tise and wit. Many items were auctioned off, from rubber decoys to a gold and silver Inlaid Weatherby 12 gauge shotgun. At the end of the evening, $3,176.60 had been raised for the continuing continu-ing work being done by Ducks Unlimited. Pat Murphy worked at the local brewery. One day while stirring a vat of beer he lost his balance and fell in. Pat's wife was called to the brewery and was given the awful news of his drowning. After regaining her composure, compo-sure, she allowed that she assumed his death was at least merciful and quick. The foreman shook his head, saying, "I don't know about that,Mrs. Murphy. He got out twice to go to the bathroom ." |
