It will leave a jog in the street, however. A letter from LaVae Smith requested the city hook up Sunnyside Subdivision to sewer and water, and to pave the street at his expense along with the next street project. After some discussion it was decided paving the street was Smith's responsibility, and Mayor Young said he was looking for some evidence in writing that the city had agreed ag-reed to hookup the sewer and water without charge to the subdivision. The regular fees would apply to individual lots but the Mayor said he would try to find evidence of some agreement with Smith before answering his letter. A request from Kay Banks to hook to sewer received discussion, and a decision that the agreement should be made with"1 the property owner. It was discovered that no address was available for Jim Freeman, and he had never been notified that sewer was available to the property, when the project was completed. In other business, they approved a Class A beer license for Trail Side General Store; approved the purchase of desk for airport; air-port; approved minutes and paid bills. If you've wondered why the Community Christmas Tree in the Historical Park has not been lit up each night, you can blame it on vandals who have robbed it of many globes. Foreman Schow reported report-ed to Council Monday evening that vandals first took the globes closest to the bottom, but then climbed the tree, pulling the harness har-ness to the ground to get at the bulbs. Their preference seems to run to red bulbs, at $1.25 each, plus the labor of replacing re-placing them . . Foreman Schow saidthere were no more red bulbs available, and asked the Council for instruction. He was instructed to find red bulbs If he could, and if not to use what bulbs were on hand and get the tree lit up again. Councilman Pettey said, "We cannot forgo our traditional tra-ditional Christmas Tree because be-cause of the irresponsible actions of a few." It goes without saying that Milford Police, as well as others will be keeping a close watch on the Historical Park decorations from now on. Pettey reported four entries en-tries in the Milford City Lighting Contest. Displays should be up by Wednesday, December 20, for judging and prize money of $150.00 and $75.00. However, others may still display, but won't be judged. Recorder Bacon reported she had not received the election materials from Carr Printing, but the ballots had been delivered by the COUNTY NEWS. She said she had several inquiries for absentee ballots, and was instructed by the Council to send them out or let qualified voters cast absentee ab-sentee ballots at any time before the election. It was reported that the new fire siren had been put up in the swimming .pool park but was not hooked up. The wiring on the old alarm has not been replaced as yet. Councilwoman Hanley reported re-ported that the TV Committee Com-mittee had metSaturday, and instructed Rulon Brox to check with the Washington County TV on installing Channel 20. She said if Milford wants to have it on VHF, equipment will have to be purchased for the translator, otherwise it will be available only to those receiving UHF. She said Brox reported that it was the Beaver City translator station that had been shot up during hunting season. The COUNTY NEWS had quoted a sheriff department depart-ment report indicating it was the Milford station. She said it was a coincidence that the Milford station had broken down at the same time, putting two channels out. Cost of repair was only about $400.00. She had no explanation as to why each time channel 2 is fixed, channel 4 goes bad, or vice versa. The committee will meet quarterly instead of monthly she said. |
