Jack Jordan, President of Steel Brothers of Canada, Ltd., is pleased to announce it's subsidiary Continental Lime, Inc. of Utah has selected a plant production site in west central Utah. Steel Brothers, a producer of lime stone products in Canada, is also involved in sand and gravel, ready-mix concrete, construction products pro-ducts andbuildingmaterials. "We are pleased to have Steel Brothers locate a subsidiary plant in non-metropolitan non-metropolitan Utah where our Industrial development efforts ef-forts have been focused," stated Governor Scott Matheson. Steel Brothers, who made the announcement at the Utah Industrial Development Division Div-ision in Salt Lake City, Utah, operates three lime plants in Western Canada, all of which were either built or upgraded in the last five years. The company has outlets in all of the major cities in Western Canada. . Considerable - time was spent in searching for a suitable lime deposit in the mountain states area. A high quality deposit has been . located in Millard County, 12 miles from Black Rock. Continental Lime, Inc. officials stated that they intend in-tend to build a 500 ton per day lime plant at a cost of approximately $7 million. Reserves in this area are adequate to service the lime requirements of the State of Utah for the foreseeable future. The plant will be designed in a modular form so that its capacity can be increased in increments of 500 tons per day. The plant will em -ploy 28 people directly. Wayne Nixdorf will be the plant manager. It is anticipated antici-pated that construction will start in the Spring of 1979 with the plant coming into production in May of 1980. Officials stated their appreciation of the help of the Utah Industrial Development Develop-ment Division in supplying them data and information to aid in their decision. |
