To make a bed, be clean and sweet, to never play out in the street, to say please and thank you, and never shout while church was on, or when it was out. To always do what she knew was right. To always say her prayers at night, and many more things which I do not know, but her love, it was for Jo. To go for a ride, for Krissy was a treat. She loved to wave to the folks on the street. She loved the things of nature we see, but most of all a Christmas Christ-mas tree. Everybody loved her and knew her by name. But no one really knew the pain that Jo had laken with this little princess to help her over some of life's rough, old fences. Then came the day when Krissy passed away, and once again, for Jo there was much sorrow, so once again Jo must have wondered what would become of tomorrow. to-morrow. Her own health then took a down hill turn, and the local Doctor had to get stern, and told her to walk a couple of miles a day, and with her smile, help others on their way. So back to being a Gray lady, visiting the elderly at the Geriatrics, singing at Church, preparing for Christmas programs and visiting her many friends in our town. She never lets our local teams down. She does her canning and mixes her bread, her scones are the greatest says some she has fed. And if there is a function, you can always -find ..her-. the-re, -singing- a song or presenting a prayer. So, if you go to the store, just for a while, you will see our Jo, with a beautiful smile. She will speak to you, and greet you whether you are young or you are old, whether it's a warm summer day, or it's dreary and cold. All who know and love her want it made perfectly clear, we think Josephine Killiam is truly Milford's Woman of the Year. Josephine Killam Jo Killiam picked Woman of the Year Josephine Killian was named Beta Upsilon's Worn -an of the Year, Saturday afternoon, at a Tea given in her honor at the home of Gay Schow. Refreshments were served after which Jo was presented with a gift and flowers. A poem written by Mikel Schow was read. Members of Beta Upsilon will be doing special things for Jo throughout the year. JO KILLIAM The second of ten when she j was born. Oh, howthe sun did shine. Momma Sarah and daddy Dick were there most of the time, until one day when tragedy struck, and mommy was no longer there, leaving a family arid six month old twins for Jo to j help care for. i A few years later, daddy Dick, took another wife, a lovely lady named Euzell, to help raise us the rest of ; our lives. Then one day, Jo met Cecil, and soon love was in bloom. Jo, she was a beautiful bride, and Cecil Killiam, a handsome groom. A family of their own they soon would start. This made Jo happy in her heart. First came Sal, a cute little gal, and second in line is Johnny. Then came Doug, who was cute as a bug, but Sally was praying for a Bonny. Then came Kathy, with dark brown hair, and Jo had lots of cute clothes for her to wear. A. small little family, father, mother, and four, and before long there would be Kevin, within a few hours he had returned to heaven. A broken heart and so much sorrow, how could anybody face tomorrow. But with the faith of God and the strength like Jo's, she will make it through the highs lo ws . Then came Krissy, a gifted gift-ed child, so slowly did she grow. Some said she would never learn, but you could never discourage Mother Jo. She took this blessing from the Lord, with patience she did endure. She taught |
