Show You can sure tell whetlier the COUNTY NEWS gets read when you make a mistake. Last week we gave credit to Mrs. Euzalla Thomas in the Milford City Council story. It should have been Mrs. Ollie Thomas. We heard about that one, but the real kicker was the people who didn't thoroughly read the Minersville Town Board story, and evidently didn't get past the headline which said "Pryor resigns position." 0 Howard Pryor, chairman and active candidate for the Beaver County Commission, got many calls wanting to know if he was resigning. The story was about Howard's twin, Harold, who resigned from the Minersville Miners-ville Town Board. Howard wants everyone to know that lie is actively seeking seek-ing to lie returned to the County Commission in the November 7th election, and has no intention of resigning. - 0- ' This is a week for throwing throw-ing bouquets, and we want to acknowledge the fine job the EMT's are doing throughout the county. Most of the time, they go about their job with little or no recognition, except by those persons they serve. However, their presence is readily noticeable at home ballgames in both Beaver and Milford. The ambulances, am-bulances, manned with trained personnel are Johnny on the Spot, when someone gets hurt. The injured are quickly and expertly taken for medical attention. They serve without pay, and are very dedicated to their purpose. A word of thanks or a slap on the back when you see them is in order. - 0- The sportsmanship at the Beaver-Milford football game last week was un-"' excelled. Not only was there good comradsliip between players, but the coaches of both teams showed their mettle. Often when the score is lopsided, the winning coach is criticized for not playing play-ing more reserves. The situation is a difficult one, because you can't tell a team not to score or hold back. And certainly, a coach can't send a squad of scrawny freshmen in against seasoned season-ed veterans, who might try to save face by injuring and mauling the little guys. - 0- Coach Marshall liberally used reserves from the second quarter on. But in the fourth quarter, when it was obvious to all that the outcome of the game had been decided, both he and Coach Hillock went to their freshmen squads. It was a joy to see, and a fine chance for the little guys to get some valuable experience. Our congratulations congratu-lations to both coaches for recognizing the situation, and taking advantage of it to train their future ballplayers ball-players - and at the same time, setting an example of good sportsmanship in the county. -0- It's the Yanks and Dodgers again in the World Series. Back when ye ol' Ed was a kid, it would have been called a subway series, with the teams traveling just across town. Now, of course, the games will be played on both coasts. We haven't watched enough games this year to have any favorite. And we rooted for the wrong teams in the playoffs. So, guess we'll just sit back and enjoy the series. - 0- The dog controversy is not over, unless you dog lovers who have been calling all week let it be. Just remember, the Council did not act in haste. They de-lilierated de-lilierated over the ordinance for eight months, while those who wanted a leash law exerted ex-erted their Influence. Had you made yourself heard during those eight months, there is little doubt the law would not have been so severe. However, we feel certain that the Council will (Continued on Page 2) laxed so that your dog can be free on your own prop, erty, without being in Vi0 lation. This could be done even before the law takes effect November 1st. But it won't if you think one show of force will do the trick. We urge those of y0u who attended the last city Council, and the many who didn't, to continue to express yourselves. Bad dogs and bad owners must pay the price - hut there Is no reason that Mil. ford must have a law that penalizes all dog owners But you must become in! volved, If you expect the Council to respect your opinion. Our sympathy goes out ! to those who are afraid of 1 dogs but, you also have an j obligation to file a formal complaint if you have a dog giving you problems. The courts can and will order that particular dog to be restrained or destroyed. But carrying a club or throwing rocks is the best way we know of getting bitten. And it doesn't eliminate theprob. lem. HERE'S MORE ABOUT ' Just Between retain some form of 24 hour control.
