Show VAN DYKE IS CANDIDATE FOR STATE BOARD Dr. Stephen A. Van Dyke, debate coach at Southern Utah State College announced today that he is a candidate for the district seven position posi-tion on the Utah State Board of Education. A graduate of BYU, Dr. Van Dyke spent six years in the Provo area while completing com-pleting a Bachelor's and Master's degree. He has a Ph. D. from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and also holds a secondary teaching teach-ing certificate for Utah. Dr. Van Dyke and his wife Becky now reside in Cedar City, Utah with their four children. "My philosophy of education educa-tion is basically conservative," conserva-tive," said the candidate. "I strongly believe that systems and teaching faculty should be accountable for the quality of education offered and the quality of the product produced." Dr. Van Dyke has been a teaching faculty member in higher education since 1967. He taught for two years at Bowling Green State University Uni-versity before accepting a position at Southern Utah State College. District seven includes Provo, Alpine, Tintic, Juab, North and South Sanpete, Sevier, Se-vier, Wayne, Piute, Millard, Beaver, Garfield, Kane, Washington, and Iron counties coun-ties and districts. |
