Mayor Young recommended recommend-ed that the bond election be held at the municipal elec-" elec-" tion on November 4th if possible. pos-sible. He also suggested that the Council make the bond election for $340,000 to make $110,000 available, and avoid another bond election later if grants become available. The interest free loan, which requires 10 matching match-ing money, will be used to put an eight-inch perimeter line around three sides of town, north, south and west and down Main Street, and run connecting lines from the perimeter into the community. communi-ty. It will also provide a number num-ber of fire plugs, and should provide the capability for better fire protections as well as get rid of all deadend dead-end lines. Total project is estimated at $250,000. Mayor Young said if the city votes to bond, the Dept. of Water Resources will buy the bonds an d the city can repay them without interest over an 18-year period. The cost would figure out to approximately ap-proximately $2.66 per month per hookup. However, no increase in-crease in the water rate is planned at this time. There were no estimates on the $340,000, since only the $230,000 in bonds would be sold", until additional grants or loans become available. Councilman Jimenez moved that they bond for $340,000 and it was seconded by Whittaker. Swain voted with the others to make it unanimous. Both Hardy and Dalton were absent.
