Show ASjjt MINERSVILLE " American Legion Auxiliary Auxil-iary held their meeting Wednesday Wed-nesday evening at the home of : Vella Stephenson with Reva j Williams as co -hostess. Meeting was taken charge of by Pres. Phyllis Truman. The Pledge of Allegiance was given, the Star Spangle Banner Ban-ner sung, the Preamble was recited, and prayer was given giv-en by Chaplain Effle Marshall. Marsh-all. Letters were read and passed on. The Poppy chairman chair-man gave her report on the poppy posters. Winners were in Class I; 1st, Keith Craw; 2nd, Todd McMullln; and 3rd, Lori Williams. In Class II; 1st, Rodney Carter; 2nd, Penny Hanley; and 3rd, Kelly Wood. The popples were given giv-en out and Poppy Day will be May 23. j The Beautlficatlon Com mittee gave their report and the report on the progress of the birthday calendar was given. The new officers for the coming year were installed by Past Pres. Marybelle Eyre. They are: Reva Williams, Wil-liams, President; Theone Mosher, Vice-president; Virginia Marshall, Secretary; Secre-tary; Shirley Holllngshead, Sgt. at Arms; Effle Marshall, Chaplain; Frieda Wood, Historian. His-torian. The new president then took over and the menu for the Stock Show was planned, which will be on the 24th of May. The meeting was then adjourned and refreshments refresh-ments were served to the 15 ( members present by the j hostesses. j Susan Camp of the DUP held their meeting at the home of Madge Carter on Wednesday afternoon. The lesson was given by Mary Beth Bailey, "Pioneer Trades and Occupations". Light refreshments were then served to five members and two guests by the hostess. host-ess. Howard and Gwen Pryor, Harold and Jo Pryor and Grant and Blanche Pryor were dinner guests last Saturday Sat-urday evening1 of Bill and Elizabeth Pryor in Beaver; the occasion was the birthday birth-day of Bill. George Banks, Callente, visited Tuesday with his mother, mo-ther, Armina Banks. Gordon and Betty Grace j Cole of Pioche, Nev., friends of Jeff and Marie Marshall, visited with them one day i during the week. ! Thursday evening the Kin - 1 dergarten, 1st and 2nd grades entertained the public j to a circus program which was very good. ! Friday evening the upper grades put on their carnival for the public. Games of chance, cake walks, fortune teller, darts, and other ! games were enjoyed by all. The Scouts and Beehives held a car-wash Saturday afternoon. Many of the townspeople took advantage of this opportunity to have their cars washed. The proceeds pro-ceeds went to the church building fund. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Banks and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Crane and family all of Salt Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. George Banks and family fam-ily of Caliente were weekend guests of their mother, Armina Ar-mina Banks. There were 25 family members here all visiting. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Carter and family of Wyo. spent a few days visiting their parents, par-ents, Horace and Madge Carter. Also at the Carter home were Mr. and Mrs. Ned Carter. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lamb of Las Vegas brought their father, Hy Lamb, toMlners-vllle toMlners-vllle to stay for several weeks with his daughter, Hene (and Delmer) Gray. David and Susan Edwards and family of Beaver and Roger and Paula Smith of Salt Lake visited Mother's Day with Alton and Virginia Marshall. Susan Black and children of Beaver spent Mother's Day visiting her parents, Clarence and Bernice Gll-11ns. Gll-11ns. Jimmy and Jean Edwards and family of Cedar City were here for Mother's Day visiting parents, James and Ranae Eyre. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Myers and son of Cedar City drove over to spend Mother's Day with their parents, Vendon and LaRayne Myers. Wilma Davis and grandson David McMullln and Julie Carter drove to Payson on Thursday for Wilma to get the baby chicks they had ordered. Arshal and Lela Evans went to Henderson, Nev. to spend a few days visiting their son, Clyde and family. Robyn and Carrie Brad-shaw, Brad-shaw, Cedar City, spent Mothers Mo-thers Day visiting with parents, par-ents, Max and Anna Rae Carter. Keith and Laurie Griffiths, Provo, were home to spend Mothers Day with parents, Vaughn and Jane Griffiths. Visiting Mothers Day with Fay and Betty Marshall were their children, Dale and Elaine Baldwin and family of Pangultch. Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Eyre and family of Richfield were Mothers Day visitors of Thurman and Irma Eyre. Keith and Shirley Hol-lingshead Hol-lingshead drove to Salt Lake Friday to take their son, Bartt, who entered the IDS mission home on Saturday morning. He will leave in a week for Hawaii where he will enter a language school to learn the Taiwan language. Sherrle Lynn Marshall, Salt Lake, spent the weekend week-end visiting her parents, Lee and Lynnea Marshall. Mr. and Mrs. Garth Carter and new baby of Logan visited visit-ed on Sunday, Mothers Day, with their father, Karen Carter, and grandparents, Sheral and Lelia Carter. Brent and Tonya Taylor and son of Cedar City spent Mothers Day visiting with - -- t parents, Ern and Shirley Myers. My-ers. Doug and Elma Blackburn drove to Provo Friday where they met their daughter, Wayne and Ann Louise Christensen and family. Sat-ruday Sat-ruday morning they all went to the Provo Temple, where the Chrlstensens had their marriage solemnized and their children sealed to them. They all returned to Minersville Saturday evening. eve-ning. Monday morning the group all went to Calif, to spend a week visiting relatives. rela-tives. Effle Marshall appreciates appre-ciates the lovely Mothers Day card and the African Violet plant given to her by her secret granddaughter. Visiting Phil and Lola Roberts for Mothers Day was Lola's daughter, Carol and Lyle Starks and family of Rialto, Calif. The Starks brought Lola home where she had been visiting them for a week. Justin and Noreen Gray and two children of Enoch and Verlene Yardley and family of Milford visited their parents, Delmer and Hene Gray, for Mothers Day. Milton and Reva Albrecht had their children home for Mothers Day, Rex and Ranae Williams and Jill Albrecht of Cedar City. Grant and Blanche Pryor were in the northern part of the state on Tuesday to attend the funeral of a friend who had drowned In a Lake Mead accident. On Mothers Day, Ruben and Emily Dotson had their children home; Nick and Colleen Col-leen Dotson and family from Beaver, Gary and April Elmer El-mer and Amy, Dan and Fay Price and Dory all of Poca-tello, Poca-tello, Idaho. Margaret Ann Williams traveled to Los Angeles to spend Mothers Day with her mother, Margaret DeRose. Howard and Gwen Pryor had as Mothers Day dinner guests, Eloise Murdock, Mack and Edith Armstrong of Cedar City, Pat Williams of St. George, and Dohn and Mildred Martin, Grant and Blanche Pryor, Harold and Jo Pryor of Minersville. Evelyn Banks of St. George was home to spend Mothers Day with parents, Wells and Imelda Banks. Ted and Dorothy Carter had their daughter , Marie and Corry and family from Cedar City, visiting them for Mothers Day. Calvin and Bonnie Albrecht Al-brecht and family spent the weekend in Freedonia visiting visit-ing Bonnie's mother, Konda Buttons and family. They stopped in Orderville to visit awhile with Bonnie's grandfather grand-father Chamberlain. In Sunday School Mothers Day, a program was enjoyed by a large crowd. Each mother mo-ther was then presented with a live plant from the Sunday School. Sunday evening in Sacrament Sacra-ment meeting the Ruben Dot-son Dot-son family gave the program. Talk by Emily Dotson, piano solo by Jolyn Dotson, and talk by Ruben Dotson. Business was the releasing of the Primary Pri-mary presidency, with a vote of thanks, Jean Carter, Pam McMullln, and Bonnie Albrecht. Al-brecht. The new presidency was sustained. They are Bonnie Albrecht, Pres.; Sue Limb, 1st Counselor; and Mary Beth Bailey, 2nd Coun-: selor. The prayers were given giv-en by Karl Truman and Bill Gibson. Dan and Eva Davis spent a few days in Las Vegas during dur-ing the week visiting with Eva's sister and family and with other relatives. Sunday dinner guests of Newell and Vera Carter were their children, Dick and Sue Davis, Dale and Patricia Nelson and families of Beaver, Beav-er, Neal and Margaret Carter Cart-er and family and Dick and Nancy Davis of Cedar City. Carolyn Smith and children child-ren of Salt Lake, also a friend, were weekend guests of Carolyn's parents, Vance and Connie Marshall. |
