Show r The holidays are over, the advertising is harder to scare up than Santa's reindeer. rein-deer. One thing, we're not short of is news - and by all rights, we should cut "Between "Be-tween You and Me" short this week to make room for more important prose -0- But, you ought to know we can't do that this Is the adrenalin that flows through my veins, it's the same life blood that kept Dad going for years after he had left the ' business, In every other re -spect. -0- Be sides, who would "Watching Carefully" watch if there were no "Between". We wouldn't want him to be disappointed. Whoever "Watching Carefully" is, could stand a few pointers on letter or editorial writing; writ-ing; be brief and to the point. Your two -and-a-half page letter could easily have been just two paragraphs and been much more effective. The familiar writing style and word usage was easily identifiable ident-ifiable as proper FCAG Lingo. The voluminous double-talk easily identifys no more than two or three people In the organization. As for my use of "Red" as a pen name ; you're wrong! "Red" is my legal name. It does, however, identify those editorials and comments written by me. If the name is not there, you can be sure that I didn't write it. -0- As for hiding behind "Red"; ridiculous, It's the color of my hair - or used to be - just like my brother and sister'sjmy mother and her brothers and sisters; her mother and brothers and sisters; sis-ters; and those before It. The hair may fade with years, but the fire that burns beneath burns brightly and cannot be extinguished by any FCAG Bureaucrat, even if he uses the pen name, "Watching Carefully". -0- Sen. Dixie Leavitt held a legislative meeting In Beaver Beav-er yesterday. As usual, he didn't inform the press in Beaver County so it had no publicity, probably no input and therefore he will return to the state house without knowledge of the wants or dislikes of Beaver County residents. We find it difficult to continually con-tinually be at odds with our Senator, but find It hard to be otherwise when he consistently consist-ently goes his own way with little or no regard for a complete com-plete segment of his constituents. constit-uents. We understand that much of Iron and Washington County feel the same. Still, he ran unopposed in the last election - so everybody must have liked being snubbed. -O- In one last effort to bring about reason and understanding under-standing where there is none, we again offer the Senator and our State Representative Dewaine Washburn our news columns as a forum to reach their Beaver County constituents, constit-uents, on the eve of the 41st legislature. -0- A couple of Items worth note . . . Mayor Young has called a public meeting for Thursday, Jan. 16, to determine deter-mine Milford's Bicentennial projects and to commit matching monies. If Milford residents fail to turn out, we weU could lose $7,000 Bicentennial Bi-centennial money. So let's put our shoulders together. -0- This Is the last issue before be-fore the legislature meets -so before they get too busy, sit down and whip out a letter let-ter to your legislators, stating stat-ing your position on proposed legislation while they have time to read it. There are many important issues, including in-cluding school district consolidation, con-solidation, which is the backdoor back-door way to consolidate schools. Write to: Senator Dixie Leavitt, Utah Senate; Rep. Dewaine Washburn, Utah State House; Sen. Pres. Ernest H. Dean, Utah State Senate; Speaker of the House, Ronald Rench-' er, Utah State House, all In Salt Lake City, Utah 84114. -0- See you in Kanab Friday! |
