Show IRON COUNTYSCHOOLS TO WITHDRAW: A8 CGullGuilDSSiIiilrsFuto the district was better off when they had their own county nurse. The same nurse serves Beaver County now, he said, but she has a much larger range of duties and volumes of paper work which take time, which was spent on case load before. "There's no more service than before," he said, "but the cost is much higher." He cited the school physicals which in the past had been done free by local doctors in three grade levels. He said the FCAG had proposed to do these at $8.00 per student. He said that the Iron County School Board had given notice no-tice to the FCAG Health Council that they were going to withdraw when their contract con-tract expires. "This will be my recommendation to the Board Wednesday," he said. "I expect them to act on it affirmatively." Haslem said, that in look-(Continued look-(Continued on Page 2) The Five -County Health and Social Services Council (now called Human Services Council) took it on the chin last Thursday as the Beaver County Commission heard Dr. Henrie tell them that the Beaver County Medical Program Pro-gram should be returned to he and Dr. D. A. Symond, for guidance and direction as it has been In the past, before the FCAG was formed. form-ed. ' He said that Dr. Trafton of FCAG had met with the Beaver County Medical Society, So-ciety, and had agreed to supply sup-ply the vaccine for their immunization program and that the doctors would continue con-tinue with their past policy on school physicals. He said that the FCAG through Dr. Trafton had agreed to let the local medical medi-cal people run the Beaver County health program, just as they have done for years. He pointed out that the old program was more extensive and better than the one proposed pro-posed by Dr. Traftonj and less costly. Presently the county has $7500 budgeted for FCAG Health. He said that the Beaver County Medical group had recommended Mary Wiseman Wise-man be put on the Human Services Council to replace Rev. Jim Sloan. On motion by Comm. Jefferson the Commission unanimously agreed to the program, and recommendations of Dr. Henrie to get the County Health Program under the direction of local personnel and to .appoint Mary Wiseman Wise-man to the Human Services Council. They did not, however, how-ever, at this time, completely complete-ly withdraw from the FCAG Health Council. Dr. Henrie said he and Dr. Symond were drafting a plan for the Commission. Com-mission. Later Supt. Lynn Haslem met with the Commission to discuss the same FCAG Health Program. He said he wanted to know of any new developments or thinking on the FCAG Health Program. He said that he felt the school district could get more for their money by operating their own health program. He said the budget, which he had just barely received, indicated that the district's share would be about $6,000 this year, nearly double the $3,480 that the school district dis-trict put in last year. He said that this, if he understood under-stood correctly, would be 5,300 for public health and $700 for mental health. Haslem said that he felt that If they could still get a fair allocation of the state and federal monies as promised, prom-ised, the district would be better off to go It alone. He planned to recommend to the district board that they withdraw with-draw from the FCAG Health and Social Services Council. The SuDt. Indicated that cept Sheriff's deputy, Foth-erlngham, Foth-erlngham, were sworn In. HERE'S MORE ABOUT COMMISSIONERS ing over the beginnings and things that have transpired since the FCAG was formed, it was his belief that the final design of the organization would have only one county commission for the 5-county area, and only one school board. He did not agree that that this was the way Beaver County should go. Beaver City representatives representa-tives met with the Board on lighting of the south interchange inter-change to Beaver City. They said the state participation was less than expected by about $8,000 at $18,900, and wanted the County to stick with them and be flexible, as they tried to work out the details and see how much they could whittle off or do themselves. At a special meeting Monday, after Comm. Harris and Roberts were sworn in, the new commission com-mission approved the $35,-000 $35,-000 project with Beaver City picking up $7,594 and the " County $8,600.
