Miss Mayme Schow was the first librarian. The library building was the former Pitchforth residence, which had been converted into an office for a lumber company. com-pany. On Sept. 7, 1939, the library was moved to its present home, which is a yellow brick structure struc-ture located in the center of the community. At that time hooks were not only used by the people of Milford Mil-ford .but were also sent to Burbank and Garrison, Utah; I Baker, Nov., and to the Horn ' Silver Mine. Average circulation circu-lation at that time was 33 books daily. Present circulation of books and magaiznes is between 40 and 50. j We invite everyone to visit cur library. As we have limited funds, we do not always have the becks asked for, but the Utah State Library will loan us almost al-most any book we need, and we are always glad to help anyone by availing ourselves of this service. Utah State Library also loans us many books to keep on our shelves for a short time. We then send them back and receive re-ceive others. This helps us very much "reading wise." At this time of the year, when most people are beginning begin-ning their spring cleaning, if you discover books that belong to the library, no matter how long they have been out, the overdue charge will be waived if the books are returned. The library would also welcome wel-come good paperbacks or children's chil-dren's books. The library also would like to purchase a copy of George Horton's "History of Milford," if any reader has one he will sell. |
