A. Symond, reelected re-elected to the city council, were sworn in and assumed their official duties at the regular meeting of the City Council Monday evening. Nadine Jones, City Recorder, administered the oaths. Appointments made by Mayor Fisher were: City recorder, Nadine Na-dine Jones; watermaster, Alvin Skillicorn; chief of police, Doug Bolton; justice of the peace, E. L. Smith; city attorney, Sam Cline; board of health, Dr. Symond, Sy-mond, chairman; Marshall Bolton, Bol-ton, and Judge Smith; purchasing pur-chasing agent, Nadine Jones; airport manager, Ben Briscoe. Councilmen assigned to various vari-ous city departments: public safety, Mayor Fisher; water and sewer, Karl Hanney; streets and sidewalks, Harold Edwards; sanitation, Dr. Symond; finances, fi-nances, Mayor Fisher; fire department, de-partment, John Jimenez; city buildings, Mayor Fisher; parks, Roy Young; recreation, Roy Young; television committee, Roy Young, chairman; W. J. Wunderlich, John H. Davis, O. C. Koch, R. L. Culver. Councilman Young, after advising ad-vising that heating the swimming swim-ming pool would require an expenditure of $3,000 plus repairs, re-pairs, was Instructed to report cost of all repairs and cost of maintenance of a heated pool. Recorder was instructed to contact Dr. Brooksby, veterinarian, veteri-narian, regarding vaccinating Milford dogs for rabies, etc. Mr. Brooksby's charge, Mrs. Jones later learned, would be $5 for each dog. Widows requesting the special spe-cial water rate for needy persons per-sons were Mrs. Theresa Pitch-forth, Pitch-forth, Mrs. Nora Wright, Mrs. James Atkin, Mrs. LaPrele Lewis, Mrs. Frances Kinross, Mrs. Margaret Wheeler and Mrs. Susan Glenn. The council coun-cil approved a $2 a month rate for these widows, and it was pointed out that applications applica-tions for the special rate must be on file with the city recorder record-er before the first meeting of each year. Sinclair Refining Co. and American Oil Co. submitted identical bids of 14.6c per gallon gal-lon for regular gas and 17.35c per gallon for premium gas, to be used by the city for the coming year. Since the Sinclair Sin-clair distributor is a local resident res-ident and Milford taxpayer, contract for furnishing gas was awarded to him. . . |
