Actually missed the first part, the Sixth Grade Band, the one Steve's in, so I won't hear the end of that for awhile. And while we're on the subject, didn't the band sound great? Don't know how many "It's the best in years." Max Herzog is doing a fine job with the youngsters and the pep Band that performs during dur-ing games is a real booster. Thursday was uneventful, just a wrestling match and shot pictures of the Christmas lights. Then the dam burst, or we shculd say pipes. We were just on our way to shoot the Christmas Christ-mas pictures when the judges who were out on somewhat (he same mission notified us of the leak at the water tanks. By the time Fred O'Leary and the city crew had tha' under control, con-trol, some of the lights were already turned off, but we cruised the town and sh:t what we could. Say. Tommy Thompson is sure getting to be the darling rf the wrestling fans. Wrestling 10 pounds over his own weight he is a real scrapper. Only a freshman, you'll see a lot of this boy. Wrestling is suffering its. usual mid-seascn doldrums, vhat with a couple of kids qi.'iti and nobody to fill their shoes, Coach Gay has to forfeit El couple cf spots before trip match gets underway. Friday the Beaver ballgame and three points was clos? enough, Saturday we saw old Santa and so did a lot of local youngsters Christmas eve was a busyone. and then Christmas Christ-mas morning. Tuesday it was back to the rat race, and the grind of get- ting out the News, only eight pages In just two days. We burned a little midnight oil, and. then when we're just beginning be-ginning to see the light of day, a call from the Post Office, telling us that due to the day of national mourning for form-ei form-ei President Truman, they won't deliver our papers until Friday. o So what's the use, we've spun our wheels so much the last week to get this issue out, and now we have to set here all day Thursday, and look at it until the Post Office opens. o Monday starts a whole new year, let us hope- it brings us peace and tranquility through out the world, and let it start right here in the News office1, with a HAPPY NEW YEAR! |
