But it was enough to create cre-ate this sizable stream down 200 West an eventually reaching clear to Main Street. Here it broke over the sidewalk and into the Gray Apartments, on the basement floor, causing considerable damage. Attempts to block the water from the apartments were foiled when the water was shut off, by Fred O'Leary former City Foreman. The leak developed devel-oped when a line to the railroad tank pump thawed, after freezing during the colder weather the week before. The valve had not been shut off for winter. |
