Show 50 to 60 words a minute while ths second year class has reached reach-ed 100 to 110 words a minute. Mrs. McCulley is traininig the girls for vocational day at Cadar. The speech class traveled to Cedar on February 21 to participate par-ticipate in the Region Forensic Foren-sic Meet. The forensic teams are composed of the following categories: debate teams, oration.", ora-tion.", legislative forms, and ex-tcinperaneous. ex-tcinperaneous. The debate teams debated against other t-.-ams in the region, others gave orations and some presented pre-sented bills in the legislative forms, other students participated partici-pated in the extcmperaneoi's. A bus transported Milford and Beaver students to and from Cedar City. S7.NIOR NEWS The Senior class now has on its agenda, two main items: "Announcements and Personal Cards." These cards can be ordered through Mr. Hughes, and it should be done as soon as possible. Slips have been sent to senior parents, giving information on quantity and price of each. , , "J - By the j JOURNALISM CLASS J of ! MILFORD HIGH SCHOOL Mrs. Mary McCulIy, Instructor The days are going fast, the week will soon be gone, soon the time will come when the ! Juniors will present some fun. When the time is here, lets show some cheer, come one, come all, for the Juniors are on the Ball. Yes! Its drawing closer to curtain time for the Junior Class Play, "THE ADORABLE AGE." The tickets will be sold play night at the door. Hop in the car, step on the gas and don't be last to get a seat and enjoy a real treat. This may not rhyme, but it ' surely is time to take a break from your toil and strife of everyday life. If you get the point your time will be well spent when you sit down and enioy this "smash hit, right off Broadway," which will be presented pre-sented in three acts, and curtain cur-tain time will be 8:00 p.m., February 28, (Wednesday) . DEATI! IN SENIOR FNGLISH On Friday, the sixteenth day of February, the senior English class was treated with a debate, de-bate, compliments of the speech ! department. The topic was, "Federal Aid -to Education." The debate teams consisted of: Brad Weston and Doug Kil-liam Kil-liam VS Elaine Gillins and Linda Johnson. The students debated the entire class hour. It was a pleasant change from the every-day routine of the English class. I'm sure that the senior English class appreciated appreciat-ed their visit. , PHYSOLOGY FILM Mr. Lewis's Physology class enjoyed a film last week on deafness. The film illustrated many different things that can make hearing recede, and also what can be done to help the hard of hearing to enjoy a normal life. It told of the dif-! dif-! ferent types of aids and de vices used to detect the hearing hear-ing difficulty. SENIOR DANCE The senior class, desirous of raising money for the senior sluff sponsored a dance on the ! 16th. As a publicity stunt, Danny and the Juniors were advertised. This stunt provided enthusiasm and interest in the school. The dance began at 8:00 p.m. and the floor show at 10:15. After the floor show, as tension mounted, Danny and the Juniors were announced. The curtain opened and there they were, Danny James and his Juniors. Norman Dee Lamb, 1 Eddie Rich and Joel Berger. The dance was a great success suc-cess as enough money was raised for the sluff. The seniors wish to express their deepest apologies to the public if anyone any-one was hurt by the little joke. PATRICIA ALLEN M:Iforcl Hich !'1;i':rr of B-Hy Crocker Homemaker of the Year Contest "SWEETHEARTS BALL" The annual Seminary Sweat-hearts Sweat-hearts Ball will be held February Feb-ruary 24. The dance will be h-ld in the L. D. S. Church recreation room. The room will be decorated to the theme, "When I Fall in Love," with color scheme of red and white. This dance will begin at 8:30 p.m. The prices are 75i for couples and 356 extra ladies. (Extra gents free?) So all you sweethearts come out and enjoy an evening with . the Seminary. TRAVELING ASSEMBLY The 1961-62 Milford High School traveling assembly participants par-ticipants were selected from tryouts held on Friday, February Febru-ary 16. The following students were selected during the auditions: aud-itions: Elaine Gillins, Linda Myers, Doug Killiam, Max Ni-choles, Ni-choles, Kathy Killiam, Elaine Schow, Veda Cox, Judy Wil-cock, Wil-cock, Lorna Hollingshead, Connie Con-nie Marshall, Louise Gillins, Sharon Rich, Carroll Davis, Doug Hardy, Mike Rich, Linda Acklin, Elaine Posey, Carla McCulley, Linda Williams and Lola Lamb. The assembly will travel to: Fillmore, Beaver, Delta and Parowan. Mike Rich and Miss Sharon Mangum will accompany accomp-any the students in their travel to the different schools. WHAT'S NEW? The Journalism class, which is taught by Mrs. Mary McCulley, McCul-ley, is now publishing a weekly week-ly edition of the Hill Top Echo. Previously they were distributed distrib-uted every two or three weeks. We feel this has improved the paper greatly as all the news is up to date. Mr. Garn Lewis's 5th period art class has been working on abstract drawing. The students drawings are graded on depth, balance, color scheme, shading and originality. The speech class is studying debate under the supervision of Mrs. Janice Lewis. They are preparing themselves for the regional debates in Cedar. The shorthand classes are drilling on taking dictation and transcribing it back. The 1st year girls are taking it at |
