The satellite is a communications vehicle developed by the U.S. Army Signal Corps Engineering and Development Laboratory at ! Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. COURIER, o solar-cell powered 500-pound ball, is capable of sending and receiving 68,000 words a minute as it passes over a tracking station. The satellite I was produced by the Philco Corporptioa. |
