Dealerships include Merrill Bean Chevrolet, Petersen Motors, Rocky Mountain, Westland Ford, Sierra Buick-Jeep Eagle and Hinkley Dodge. Free activities will be scheduled throughout the day. Sports clinics for tennis, basketball, football, volleyball and golf will be offered. Free helium baloons will be given away. Waldo will be there to greet children and to pose for photographs along with the WSU cheerleaders. Pictures will cost $2.50. Every hour for five hours there will be a fashion show under the Bell Tower. Participating vendors will be Units, Motherhood Maternity, Brooks, WSU Bookstore and Jeans West. Musical entertainment for all ages will begin at 11 am., at Tracy Plaza. Dance performances will be given by The Deaf Signing Dance Co., Kids Are Music Choral Edition, Ogden School of Dance in Association with Ballet West, Weber State's cheerleaders and many more. Pillsbury will sponsor a baking contest with three categories: bread, pies and cookies. Artwork by elementary school children will be displayed. Prizes will be awarded at 2 p.m. "What we're trying to promote," Wilson said, "Is all of the positive things that Weber State has to offer people whether they are students or private citizens in the community. We want to show the community what we can do," she said. She also loves the teaching emphasis here and says that it is a great school for anyone to get an undergraduate education. "I think students feel that they learn a lot in my class and that the material presented stimulates discussion and debate," said Haan-stad. "I think there is a real advantage in teaching international relations because it stimulates the interest of the students who are not so aware of international affairs and it keeps the interest of those students who are." Having been an active member of Amnesty International, a volunteer human rights group, she is presently the faculty advisor for Amnesty International at Weber State. She participates in the community by providing human rights information and presentations to junior high and high schools. In addition, this week she is helping to sponsor Human Rights Week at Weber State. She is also on an advisory committee responsible for getting a women's studies minor at Weber State which will be available Spring Quarter 1992 in which she will teach a course entitled Third World Women. Originally from South Dakota, Haanstad lives in Salt Lake with her two daughters and her husband, who teaches philosophy at the University of Utah. Haanstad was chosen from several nominations by students and faculty. A committee of faculty and community members then reviewed the files of those nominated and the final winner of the award was chosen by President Thompson. Haanstad will receive her choice of either $3,000 in cash or a reassignment of one quarter's teaching load to develop instructional innovation to teach in the honors program or $3,000 in support of instructional projects. Lindquist has held offices in several important Ogden community organizations. In addition to her leadership of the YWCA, she served as president of the Children's Aid Society and the Junior League of Ogden. She also served on the boards of the Weber County Library Foundation, the Utah Musical Theatre and theOgden SymphonyBallet Association. In 1987, she and her husband, John Lindquist, received the Ogden Chamber of Commerce "Wall of Fame" award.
