Schuyler Everett returtied J late Friday to his training post 4 in Ohio after a two weeks fur-J fur-J lough in St. George visiting with 'j! Mrs. Everett and their small son, . Richard, and with his mother, 1 Mrs. E. A. Everett and other rela- tives. He figures it won't be long jj now until he will be given an 2 assignment overseas or at least 3 to another location. I h ft B Back in Civvies Samuel Christensen of Spring-dale Spring-dale is now a civilian again, having hav-ing received honorable medical discharge from the U. S. Army recently. After training in various camps in the U. S., he was sent to England and during his coordination coordi-nation training there was injured. He had a month's hospitalization in England and was then sent to Bushnell hospital where he had several months treatment before being discharged. la ft Pd ' . Returns form Overseas SSgt. Vernon Ruesch arrived in Springdale last week on a 30-day 30-day furlough. He is recovering from injuries received in action on the western front. Other details de-tails were not given in our report, but we hope to contact him before be-fore he returns to his post. . ft fta ft Brothers Given Citations Two of the three grandsons of Mrs. Caroline Jacobson of St. George have been given citations for their "courage, coolness and skill," while participating in bombing bomb-ing missions over enemy territory. The three brothers, Hugh, Lindsay Lind-say and A. H. Jacobson are all : airmen. They are sons of the : late Alma Jacobson of Pine Valley : but were living in Caliente when j they enlisted. i Lt. Hugh Jacobson was reported i Postman Busy Uncle Sam is making a rea! effort to get the letters from th boys to their families and frorr the folks at home to the boy out fighting, thinks Foster Charles of the Shevwit Reservation, Santa Clara. On Saturday he received an official envelope containing a letter from his son, Pvt. Kenneth Charles, who has been in England Eng-land more than a year. The letter coming by airmail, had been somewhat some-what scorched in an accident and was recovered and sent on with explanations. It was still readable read-able and indicated that Pvt. Charles is still busy at his war job. Although his brother, Peterson Peter-son is also in England, it seems they haven't met thus far. ft ft ft Graduate Visits Among the airmen recently graduated at LaJunta, Colorado with the commission of Flight Officer, was Antone Neilson Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Neilson of Washington. He visited with his parents last week on delayed orders while enroute from La-Junta La-Junta to Williams Field, Chandler, Ariz., where he will train as pilot of a B-17 bomber. This is his first visit home since he enlisted in the armed service in March, 1943. missing in action June 12, 1944, while piloting a P-38 fighter during dur-ing the invasion of France. Since he is still unlocated, the Air Medal and an oak leaf cluster are being presented to his mother, Mrs. Eula B. Jacobson of Caliente. The commanding general of the Ninth Service Command will select se-lect an officer to make the presentation. pre-sentation. The Air Medal was recently awarded to Sgt. Lindsay Jacobson who is with the Eighth Air Forces in England. He is waist gunner on a B-17 of the 385th Bombardment Bombard-ment Group. The citation commends com-mends him for his achievements in bombing attacks upon war plants in Germany and upon Nazi defense installations and communication commun-ication lines in Western Europe. |
