Show Eagle Scout Badge Awarded To Gregg Snow, Thurs. Over 600 Fathers And Sons Attend The Annual Scout Banquet The climatic event of the Fathers-Sons Fathers-Sons banquet last Thursday night was the awarding of the Eagle Scout badge to Gregg Snow, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Eric Snow. The parents participated in the presentation, which was made by W. Tell Gubler, scout field executive ex-ecutive of this area. It was the first Eagle award in three years here. Paul Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. George T. Thompson, received his badge about three years ago. More than 600 fathers and sons participated in an informal luncheon lunch-eon and program, 100 more than took part a year ago. A program of pageantry and music was in charge of B. Glen Smith, whose chief difficulty was in making boys' voices heard in the remote corners of the hall. Harold S. Snow was master of ceremonies. Besides the Eagle award, two service awards and a number of lesser advancements were given. B. Glen Smith was given the 30-year 30-year service award, and Norman E. Gubler, scoutmaster of the Santa Clara troop, had 10 years of service recognized. A large number of women and girls of the community assisted with the preparation of the food and its serving, doing this work without cost to the committee in charge, states W. W. McArthur, general chariman of the venture. Mrs. Moroni McArthur was in charge of the food preparation and Mrs. Antone Prince the serving. serv-ing. Mr. McArthur takes this means of publicly thanking these women and girls for their fine service. The banquet was considered a success from every standpoint. The only problem that faces the committee is how to handle the crowd if the venture continues to grow. |
