Show Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary Fete Held By Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Frei Sunday, Feb. 11th SANTA CLARA, Utah More than 150 friends and relatives called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Frei on Sunday, Feb. 11, between the hours of 3 and 6 p. m. to congratulate the couple on their sixtieth wedding anniversary. anni-versary. The affair was in charge of their daughters and daughters-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Frei still occupy the home in which they began their married life sixty years ago. Although it has been modernized, the main lines of the building have been little changed. Both Mr. and Mrs. Frei are ' children of the Swiss Colony pio-' pio-' neers who came to Santa Clara in Dec. 1861. Mr. Frei is a son of Rudolph and Margaret Naegle Frei and was born Nov. 27, 1862. Mrs. Frei, whose maiden name was 1 Lena Reber, was born Nov. 9,' 1864, a daughter of John and Barbara Stucki Reber. They were married in the St. George Temple on Feb. 12, 1885 Mr. Frei filled two L. D. S. missions, mis-sions, one in Switzerland from 1890 to 1892, and one in the Eastern states from 1907 to 1909, as well as a three months M. I. A. -mission to Kane county. Both he and Mrs. Frei have been active church workers in the various auxiliary organizations. She served serv-ed as a member of the Santa Clara ward Relief Society presidency presi-dency for 14 years and as visiting ' teacher for 20 years. They have also been active in community affairs and Mr. Frei has held various offices and helped to promote pro-mote the erection of school buildings build-ings and chapels. They were the parents of 12 children, eight of whom are living. (Continued on page five) Frei Anniversary (Continued on page four) The two daughters are Mrs. Walter Walt-er P. Cottam of Salt Lake Citv and Mrs. Leland. Hafen of St George; the six sons, are Viviar J., J. Claud and Cecil Frei oi Santa Clara; Newell R. and Rex Frei of St. George and Clark Frei of Salt Lake City.' The have 37 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren living. Ten of their grandsons are ir military service in all parts of the world, an eleventh grandson, Lt Keith Hafen having been killed ir action while on bombing missions over enemy Europe. They alsc have four grandsons-in-law ir military service. |
