A., church meetings, etc. The 'committee recommends the closing of the street between the Hurricane high school and the playground on the east while school is in session and better supervision of the playgrounds during play periods. Building Safety Have Junior Police or school safety commit-j commit-j tee to maintain proper conduct ; in halls, stairways, etc. Remove all waste and fire hazards from t basements. Building kept in good j repair. t Traffic Safety Our present problems are: Minors driving au- - tomomibles; bicycles on highways; fact driving and sDeedine: disre gard for traffic signs; children playing on highways. Present problems to public through:-. Talks from traffic officers; of-ficers; facts presented during church gatherings; P.-T. A. meetings; meet-ings; use of county paper; cojn-tact cojn-tact new town officers; contact officials as to City Ordinance about many . problems; posters used in public places. Occupational Accidents In our committee group we decided de-cided that we should educate the public and make them safety conscious, through the schools, through the different clubs, newspaper news-paper and church gatherings. We thought that a yearly pro- gram should be made that the safety council could use in getting get-ting forth the information necessary neces-sary to put over this work. We felt that each committee should be responsible to furnish the ma terial and information that the safetv council need. Vaca-j tion Safety. . j We thought that a few minutes once a month could be spent by! the different clubs in the form of speeches, debates etc. The following fol-lowing are the groups we thought we might work with: Washington Washing-ton County News, Lions club. Rotary Ro-tary club, B.-P.W. club, Athena club, Beet Growers' club, P.-T. A. organizations, church, M. I. A. and Sunday schools, American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, Vesta club, Alice Louise Reynolds clubs and school assemblies. Fire Comm. Recommedations That we work as a group with the City Council to get an ordinance ordi-nance that requires all trash and rubbish to be burned only between be-tween hours from sun-up to 1:00 p.m. That we work in connection with - our fire department in a program to educate all people to: allow no trash and rubbish to accumulate in homes and yards-to yards-to see that all homes are free of fire hazards; to stay away from fires that is, to do nothing to interfer with the work of the firemen. |
