Show West Side City Water " Users Vote $10 Improvement Assessment At a special meeting held on January Jan-uary 24th by the Irrigation Water Committee of the St. George City Council, water users of the West Side City Spring voted in favor of an assesment of $10.00 per share per year in addition to the regular maintenance assesment. This assesment to continue until sufficient funds are acquired to pipe the irrigation water from the West Side Spring down Diagonal Di-agonal Street to the" vicinity of the Iliff Andrus residence and to pay 37y2 cents per lineal foot toward the installation of a curb and gutter from that point to the intersection of Diagonal with Main Street. Without giving any actual figures fig-ures of the benefits to be expected ex-pected from this program the members of the City Council assured as-sured the meeting that sufficient benefits in savings on maintenance mainten-ance costs and additional water would ensue to justify this expense. ex-pense. Allowing a valuation of $150 per share for this water and assuming as-suming the $10 assesment at no interest value, sufficient benefit becomes an increase of six and two-thirds per cent of actual irrigation water supplied or a reduction in maintenance charges of fifty cents to one dollar for each assesment of $10.00 paid in. Any money invested in War Bonds is earning two and one-half per cent interest so at least that figure must have been used by the Council's Committee, and even greater benefits than the above may be expected. |
