Mr. and Mrs. Berry Williams, Mr. and Mrs. George Wood and Thomas Pearce of Las Veas were week end visitors of Mrs. Ora Williams. Mrs. Sam Wilson and Mrs. Tom Stanworlh are spending the week in I'rovo on business. Dr. Paul Popcnee will be the speaker at the Family Life Institute Insti-tute meeting held in Hurricane hifjh school Monday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. A large crowd was present. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn M. Webb and family enjoyed a visit from their son, AS Clark Webb who is home on leave from Boulder, Colo, where he is attending the university of Colorado. Mrs. Effie Barrows, a specialist from the home furnishing department depart-ment of the USAC, extension service, ser-vice, Logan, was in Hurricane this week demonstrating the cleaning and upholstering of furniture. furni-ture. Demonstrations will be held in the South ward relief society hall. Those desiring to upholster their furniture under her direction direc-tion may bring materials. The South ward DUP camp met at the home of Captain Artie Reeve Friday afternoon. Amanda Heaton gave the lesson. George LeBaron was home over the week end from Provo, where he is attending the B Y U. Miss Opal Isom, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Erving Isom, spent the week end home from Boulder City where she is teaching school. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Stout and sons, Walker, Lowell and Weldon of Bayard, Calif, were Thursday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Isom. The two women are sisters. Miss Lora May Roundy, who has had employment in Ogden for several months is visiting her mother, Mrs. Lillian Roundy before be-fore returning to attend the University Uni-versity of Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Graham of ElMonte, Calif., are visiting her parents, the Merrill Halls. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Schmutz and daughter are here from Fort Worth, Texas, visiting Mrs. Schmutz mother, Mrs. Dennis Beams and other relatives. While here, Mr. Schmutz has made interesting in-teresting reports of his work in soil conservation in Texas, and of the stock shows and fine cattle raised in that state. They also report traveling eight miles each Sunday to attend LPS services. Pres. Elmer Graff and Max Jep-son Jep-son made a trip to Emery county last week and brought back 28 Hereford steers the Agricultural teachers have purchased for the 4-H project. Some members bought one steer, some two or more, to feed for entering in the next district stock show. Mrs. Mattie Spendlove and son-in-law, Eddie Cooper of Seattle, visited over the week end with Mrs. LaRue Stratton. Mrs. Frank Lee has returned from Las Vegas where she spent four days with her daughter, Mrs. Chris Becker, who gave birth to a daughter, Oct. 23 in the Clark county hospital. Mrs. Eldro Reeve, her mother, Mrs. Seeley and grandmother, Mrs. Singleton of Vernal, visited four days last week with her husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Reeve. Visiting last week with Mrs. Addie Cripps was her sonr Clarence Clar-ence Cripps and ' grandson, Clair Cripps, of Riverside, Calif., They also joined the deer hunt. SSgt. Elton Stratton has received re-ceived his honorable discharge from military service. He has spent 28 months in Europe, participating parti-cipating in the invasion of Normandy Nor-mandy and the battles of France, Belgium and Germany. Before going go-ing overseas he trained in Sacramento, Sacra-mento, Arizona, Texas and New York. One of the 1000 service men who returned from overseas on the USS BunkerhiU was Pfc. Victor Lee, who received his honorable hon-orable discharge at Fort Douglas, Oct. 28, after more than four years in military service. He has been on duty in the south Pacific 42 months at that time. He is a son of the late Mrs. Erastus Lee. Cpl. and Mrs. Orvil Isom and four children were visitors last week with his father, Thomas Isom and other relatives. He returned re-turned recently from 22 months of military service which included includ-ed one year in the South Pacific. |
