Show Legion Auxiliary Plans Complete For Armistice Day Community Co-ovration Is Sought to Assure Sumvss Of First Post-War Parade Urging that the business people of Washington County prepare to participate in the first postwar post-war parade in a big way ijext Monday, the American legion points out that circumstances warrant Unusual effort in this behalf. Prizes will be awarded for the floats, aftd all groups participating participat-ing in the parade are asked to carry flags or banners In order to make it more colorful. Those taking tak-ing part are asked to line up on Tabernacle street, west of the telephone office, at 9:30 Monday morning, where the affair will start, headed by the color guard and followed by the Dixie College band. Other assured participants include ex-service men of World Wars I and II, members of the Legion Auxiliary, Gold Star Mothers, Moth-ers, martial band and fire de-j de-j partment. I An interesting program of observance ob-servance will tie held at the Tab-! Tab-! ernacle beginning at 10 a.m., declares de-clares the committee, including: Pledge of allegiance and singing of the national anthem, led by Earl J. Bleak. Opening prayer by Chaplain Kenneth M. Cannon. Selection by Dixie College Band; Oratorical Contest, Dixie College students; Memorial violin selection. selec-tion. Irene Everett accompanied by Cuba Hall; Tribute, John T. Woodbury ; Silent tribute and Taps; "The Recessional" by the Aux- iliary trio Sally Cottam, Blanche Pitchforth and Jane Lauper, accompanied ac-companied by Mae A. Pace; Address Lawrence Wadsworth; Band selection; Closing Prayer, Chaplain Belle Prince; Retirement of colors. Mondav afternoon will feature a novelty rodeo and show at the St. George rodeo grounds at 2:00 p.m., highlight of which will be a spirited contest between members of Lester Kcate Post and the St. George Lions Club, with a purse of $50 going to the winner. A feature attraction will be the Boys Calf Riding event for boys between the ages of 12 to 15. These entrants must have a signed waiver of responsibility from their parents to participate for the various va-rious prizes to be awarded. A dance at the recreation hall will be the concluding feature of the day's entertainment. |
