Show Cannon-Flinders Marriage The home of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Cannon, east on Highway 91 furnished furn-ished a delightful setting for the wedding reception given by them last Friday evening honoring their daughter, Rhoda Meren and her husband Arley Flinders, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence. Flinders of Clearfield. The couple were married Friday afternoon in the St. George Temple, with Pres. Harold S. Snow performing the ceremony in the presence of a large group of relatives and friends. For the reception the bride wore her wedding dress of white slipper satin, an empire model with sweeping sweep-ing train, the dress neck being outlined in seed pearls. Her train-length train-length veil of silk net fell from a coronet of seed pearls and her boquet was of white double glad-iolas glad-iolas centered with a single white orchid. She was attended by her sister, Elaine Cannon, and a close friend, Elaine Hafen, both wearing identical iden-tical floor-length dresses of pink silk net over taffeta, with hooded shoulder-length veils, and boquets of pink gladiolas with orchid ma-line. ma-line. Milton Schmutz was the groom's best man. Mrs. Roxey S. Romney met guests at the door, the reception line including also the parents of both bride and groom, and the bride's uncle, David H. Cannon. Assisting in the gift rooms 'were Mrs. Von B. Cottam of Las Vegas, and Mrs. Gail Heaton of Alton, Utah, intimate friends of the bride. Mrs. Walter Cannon, aunt of the bride was in charge of the serving, assisted by Mrs. Antone B. Prince, Mrs. Guy Hafen directing direct-ing the guests to the small tables in the down-stairs living room, where a color scheme of white and gold was used, combining white table covers with white bowls of yellow pansies. Assisting with serving were a group of Woodward Wood-ward high school graduates who had been the bride's students the past two years, and included: Erma Woodbury, Josephine Jones, Olive Brooks, Charlene Snow, Vivian Viv-ian Snow, Eldeen Hall, Enid Mc-Arthur Mc-Arthur and Audrey Paxman, all in charming formals. Music for the evening was provided pro-vided by Mrs. Evan J. Pickett, and included vibra harp solos, interspersed in-terspersed with recordings of Stephen Foster compositions. The couple left Saturday for Salt Lake City, where they will reside while Mr. Flinders continues con-tinues his medical studies. Mrs. Roxey S. Romney entertain enter-tain e d at a prettily-arranged breakfast at her apartment Wednesday Wed-nesday morning, June 9th, for Rhoda M. Cannon, now Mrs. Arley Flinders, and her intimate friends and wedding attendants. On the same evening Miss Elaine Hafen and Mrs. Von B. Cottam united in entertaining at the Hafen home with a personal shower for the bride. |
