Show News from Our People In the Armed Services By MABEL JARVIS Cpl. W. Fry Now In Europe Headquarters air service command com-mand of the United States strategic stra-tegic air forces in Europe writes this week of Cpl. William R. Fry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oz B. Fry, formerly of Santa Clara, and now of Whiterock, Utah. Cpl. Fry recently re-cently completed the orientation course designed to bridge the gap between training in the states and combat soldiering against the enemy in France. His next station will be one from which America's fighting planes cover the liberation of occupied oc-cupied Europe. Tail gunner in one of the big bombers, he should see much of the country where his father served with the U. S. air forces 25 years ago. Pa n Cpl. Jay Holt Transferred Cpl Jay Holt who has been training at Chatham Field, near Savanah, Ga. for several months has just been transferred to Lang-ley Lang-ley Field, Va., for six week's advanced ad-vanced training. He is gunner with a B-24 bomber. Mrs. Holt returned last Thursday Thurs-day from spending six weeks with her husband in Savanah. She reports having visited many places of interest in that area with Cpl. Holt. She and their two children, Vee Lona and Brent, will remain in St. George for the duration. Pa Pt P-s Training Delayed A little schooling can take a long time says Frank Orahood, when the classes are interspersed with hospitalization. That has been his tough luck at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. where he has been training the past four months. Due to illness, he has just completed the first six weeks of basic training. Mrs. Orahood and children are moving shortly from St. George to Idaho. Pa P-Tl Pt Slc Lyle At Radio School Calvin Hardy Lyle Slc is now attending the aviation radioman school at the Naval air technical training center in Memiihis, Tcnn. He had his boot training at Far-ragut, Far-ragut, Ida., having enlisted Sept. i 17, 1943, in Las Vegas. His parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy W. Lyle "reside at 102 Clark Ave., ' Punxsulawney, Pa. Pi Pt Pi f I'fc. V. Ilafon In Italy Pre. Vere Hafcn sent his address ad-dress this week from somewhere in Italy where lie has been for the past several months. lie reports he is well and looks forward for-ward each week for the arrival of letters and the News. Ps H h IVt. Stevens in England An interesting News Release came this week from headquarters of the United ' States Strategic Air Forces in Europe, tolling of the fine work being done by Pvt. Dale W. Stevens, somewhere in England. Pvt. Stevens is helping to keep America's fighters and bombers swarming over Western Europe in support of the advancing armies. He works at the giant Air Service Command modification modifica-tion and repair depot as an expert mechanic. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Stevens of St. George. |
