Show Memorial Services Held For Pfc. Rulon B. Bracken At Gunlock GUNLOCK, Utah. Memorial services were held Sunday, Aug. 27th at 5 p. m., in the Gunlock ward hall for Pfc. Rulon Bowler Bracken, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mar Bracken, who was killed in action in France, July 27th. Services were directed jointly by Col. Roy Williams, Commander of Lester Keate Post No. 90, the American Legion, and Gunlock ward officers, with Bishop Henry Bowler, presiding. The program included singing, "Though Deepening Trials", by the ward choir, directed by F.J. Bowler; prayer, Lee V. Leavitt; singing, "Sometime We'll Understand", Under-stand", choir; duet, "Face To Face", Mr. and Mrs. W. Pratt Miles, St. George, accompanied by Erma Bracken; original tribute by (Continued on page eight) Memorial Services (Continued from first page) Mrs. Henry Bowler, aunt of the soldier; and chorus, "Beautiful Home", by the choir. Speakers At Services Speakers were H. E. Jones and F. J. Bowler of Gunlock, Pres. Harold S. Snow of St. George and E. S. Gardner of Pine Valley. Val-ley. All offered words of hope and encouragement to the grieving griev-ing relatives. They told of the clean life of Pfc. Bracken; his trustworthiness and dependability, his thoughtful kindness to his parents, and his service to his country in which he has paid the supreme sacrifice for the liberation liber-ation of oppressed people. Chaplain Howard Starr of the American Legion Post presented Mrs. Bracken with the American Flag in honor of her soldier son, and Col. Roy Williams lead in the one minute silent tribute to soldier dead. The closing prayer was by Chaplain Starr, and "Taps", were sounded by Greg Snow of St. George. More than 200 people attended the services and there were many floral offerings. Representing the Lester Keate Post No. 90 of the American Legion and the Auxiliary,- were: Col. and Mrs. Roy Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pickett, Mr. and Mrs. John Baughman, Henry Pickett, Gordon Mathis, Ray Garner, Ambrose Cannon, K. M. Cannon, Clair Morris, Howard Starr and Edward Ed-ward Christian. |
