Mrs. Annette Pearce entertained a few friends Tuesday night honoring the birthday anniversary of Miss Thora Tobler. Chinese Checkers were the diversion of the evening. Returning Sunday and Monday from attending conference in Salt Lake were Pres. H. S. Snow, Mrs. Annie S. Condie, Mrs. Orson Hall, Mrs. LaVerne DeSwan, Bp. and Mrs. E. S. Gardner, Bp. and Mrs. Andrew McArthur, Mr. and Mrs. Roy H. Welker, Mrs. Charlotte V. Atkin and Seth Harper. Mr. and Mrs. Marcell Schmutz had their entire family home for dinner last Sunday including Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Schmutz and child from Cedar City and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Schmutz from Logan, where they are attending school. Blanche Baker, Devorah Whitehead White-head and Gertrude Frehner returned re-turned Monday from attending conference and visiting relatives Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Nichols and family arrived last week from ! Salt Lake City to make their home in St. George. They have been planning for this since making a visit here several months ago when they became interested in business possibilities in this section. They are intimate friends of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Thompson. Mrs. Mamie May and family moved to their former home in Las Vegas last week, where they plan to remain indefinitely. Mrs. May has employment there. Mr. and Mrs. J. Roman Andrus of Los Angeles are spending their spring vacation in St. George with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Andrus. They will visit Mrs. Andrus' mother, Mrs. Pratt, in Kanab, while here. Mrs. Ethella Avery of Kanosh is spending 10 days in St. George with her daughter, Helen, and other relatives. Mrs. Maude W. Savage arrived last Thursday from Pacific Grove, Calif, to visit with her sister, Mrs. Ellen Oxborrow. From here she will go on to Salt Lake City to visit other relatives. The Dixie Culture club members were guests last Thursday of Mrs. Lee Hafen at the Arrowhead Arrow-head hotel banquet room. Mrs. Charles Olson reviewed "You and Heredity" a scientific book by Amram Scheinfield. The Reader's Round Table members were guests last Friday of Mrs. Verna Cottam. Mrs. Vera Milne reviewed "An Autobiography" Auto-biography" by Margaret Sanger, following which lunch was served to nine members. Mrs. Irene Peterson and two small sons, Billy and Bobby of Salt Lake City visited in St. George over the week end at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Thompson. Among the students home over the spring vacation from northern schools were Elaine Hafen, Rhoda Cannon, Shirl Pitchforth, Stanley and Ray Schmutz, Lela Lund, Ada Hafen, Naomi Fordham, Bonnie Bon-nie and Pershing Nelson and Ted Simmons. You'll have a grand time at the first Annual Military Ball on Saturday, April 13. A11C Mr. and Mrs. Mathias F. Cowley will leave Saturday for their home in Logan. They have spent the past six weeks in St. George. Lynn Heaton of Alton, entered the local hospital April 6, and underwent surgery April 8. Mrs. Heaton accompanied him to St. George and is visiting with her sister, Mrs. Richard Shumway. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne G. Whitehead White-head returned Sunday from the coast where they have spent the past two weeks. Lee Atkin, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudger Atkin received medical medi-cal treatment at the local hospital hospi-tal from Saturday to Tuesday. Rex Gardner underwent surgery at the hospital Monday and is reported making rapid improvement. improve-ment. Miss Lillian R. I. Wallis arrived last Thursday from Logan to spend two weeks with her brother, John R. Wallis and family. Bob Best is at home from the hospital and is reported making rapid recovery. Mrs. George Brooks returned Monday evening from Salt Lake City and Provo where she has been visiting for the past two weeks. Gardner of St. George and Pine Valley were shown at lunch between conference con-ference sessions, and Miss Lila McAllister was seen on the Temple square lawns kodaking Miss Annie Wells. On Tuesday they were honored guests at a party given by Mr. and Mrs. Willard Milne, attended by 16 friends of the couple, who will return to Buhl, Idaho this week end. Mrs. Vera Mitchell has spent the past several days in Salt Lake City on business. Mrs. Louis T. Fitcher of Los Angeles has been visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Pectol.
