Show Dixie Places Third In Nevada Track Meet Dixie placed third in the inter-sectional inter-sectional high school track meet held in Bunkerville last Saturday, Satur-day, scoring just 12 points. Las Vegas walked away with the meet with 70 and Bunkerville placed second with 37. Overton managed man-aged to get 9 points, while Alamo did not score. The Dixie relay team, consisting of Douglas Prince, Herbert Pitch-forth, Pitch-forth, Blaine Fawcett.and Eldon Stirling was barely nosed out by Las Vegas. Roosevelt Gubler won second in the 440; Douglas Prince took second in the 220 and third in the 100; Riding and Schmutz of the Woodward took third in the mile and 220 low hurdles, respectively. Two Nevada state records were broken in the meet, and another tied. Tobler of Bunkerville threw the shot 48 feet and 9 inches, and Blevins of Las Vegas threw the javelin 185 feet and 11 inches. Walker of Bunkerville tied the discus mark of 144 feet and 6 inches. Coach Tolman is working hard to round both his college and high school squads into shape for future meets. |
