Show Funeral Services Held Here Thursday For Joseph R. Lund Funeral services were held in the south ward chapel last Thursday afternoon for Joseph Romney Lund, under the direction of the west ward bishopric, with Bp. Vernon Worthen presiding. Musical numbers for the services ser-vices included a vocal solo, "I Do Believe", by Dilworth Snow; duet, "Come Unto Me", by Mrs. Arthur Paxman and Mrs. Harry Gentry; quartette, "Lead Me Gently (Continued on page four) Jos. R. Lund Funeral (Continued from first pagel Home", Mrs. Earl Cannon, Mrs. Arthur Paxman, Dilworth Snow and Otto Fife, with Mrs. Mae A. Pace accompanying. Dr. W. J. Reichmann was the first speaker. He told of his association as-sociation with the family since coming to this locality, of Mr. Lund's calmness under his suffering, suf-fering, and his kindly attitude toward all men. Dr. Reichmann read verses by Beatrice E. Lin-ford, Lin-ford, dwelt on the inspiration of Lincoln's Gettysburg address, and Doctor McKenzic's poem, "In Flanders Field" all of which he said, "give a challenge to each of us who lives to 'carry on', just as this man leaves a challenge to his family to do likewise that his life may not be lived in vain. And so it is with all parents, and with all human beings who desire good". Pres. W. O. Bentley said he appreciated this opportunity to review the life of this lifelong friend. He told of his boyhood, his schooling, his marriage, his family, of his mining experiences and his service as a mail carrier. He commended him for his honesty in business, his friendliness, friendli-ness, his willingness to do whatever what-ever was asked of him, and -the pleasantness of his family life. Closing remarks were made by Bp. Vernon Worthen, who said this was a quiet, unobtrusive family who were willing to serve wherever they could. He expressed expres-sed sympathy for the son. Dr. Grant Lund, who was obliged to return to his post, knowing he would not see his father again in this life. He told of the work done in the ward organization, especially in the M.I.A. and Primary Pri-mary by Mrs. Lund and by their daughter, Mrs. William McMullin. Prayers were by Pres. W. W. McArthur, and Andrew N. Winsor, Patriarch George V. Worthen dedicated the grave in - the St. George City cemetery. There was a great profusion of floral offerings. |
