Show Dixie High In First Place Following Victories Over Hurricane And Parowan The Dixie high school Flyers swept to a surprising 47-14 victory over the Hurricane Tigers here Saturday night in a game which it was anticipated would be close with either team given a chance to win. Prior to this, on Friday night, the Flyers had defeated Parowan 19-18 in a defensive battle that saw the local team gain the winning point with less than a minute to go. Hurricane was handicapped with Hinton, center and key man for Coach Walter Brook's team, injured. in-jured. But, even if the Hurricane team had been at full strength it is doubtful if they could have stemmed the tide o f baskets garnered by a red-hot Dixie team. The Flyers were definitely "on" and no matter where they threw the ball from, it sailed through the hoop. Esplin and Hafen were high men hitting the hoop for 15 points each. Hafen played the best game he has shown this season. All the boys played beautiful ball. Their defensive play being just as outstanding out-standing as their offense. Hurricane handled the ball nicely and kept at it all of the time until it was a far better game than the score would indicate. indi-cate. It was just their misfortune to have an off night when the Flyers were "on". Anyone who has seen the teams play will (Continued on page seven) , Dixie Swamps Hurricane (Continued from first page) agree that this game was not a I J true indication of their relative I abilities. .
