Show Thirty Debaters Expected To i Participate in Debate Tournament Dixie College To Be Hosts To Debaters From Snow and BAC Mar. 10-11 The Dixie junior college will act as host to the colleges of Southern YUtah in a speech and debating tournament to be held here on March 10 and 11. Approximately , 30 participants from Snow college col-lege and the Branch Agricultural p college will be Dixie guests on those days. The events to be featured in- .elude debating, panel discussions. 5oratory. extemporaneous speaking and interpretative readings. The "-representatives of the Dixie col- l' lege have been selected in debat-T-ing and oratory. Tryouts are being held this week to determine the participants in the other events. The debating question is: Re-solved Re-solved "That the United States should cease to use public funds "(including credit) for the stimu- lation of business". This question " -is a popular one and should stimulate stimu-late an interesting discussion. De- Lance Squires and W i 1 d e n J-Tweedie of Hurricane will repre-"sent repre-"sent both sides of the question for Dixie. LeGrande Nelson and Pershing Nelson will make up one . negative team, with Ted Simmons and Ray Schmutz the other. Carrol Car-rol Wilson of Panguitch and Earl j Hafen will debate the affirmative. ; as will Herbert Christensen and Linford Christensen of Springdale. Each college will participate in four debates and four panel discussions. dis-cussions. A total of 24 debates will be held, commencing at 10 a.m. Friday. Three Representatives There will be three representatives representa-tives from each college in each of the fields of oratory, extemporaneous extempor-aneous speaking and interpretative interpreta-tive readings.
