Show Contract On Snow Canyon Road Let . To Low Bidder In Salt Lake Wednesday I Commissioner Hammond Promises Road Will Be Oiled As Soon As Ready The letting of the Snow Canyon Road contract as advertised last week in the News was announced yesterday by the State Road commission. com-mission. The contract was let to the low bidder for $59,550 and will construct the road to a point in Diamond Valley beyond the old Ranger station. Confirmation of the letting of the contract was received Wednesday Wednes-day night by the News when Newell R. Frei, chairman of the Washington county commissioners telephoned the information. With the state engineer's cost added to the above contract, Mr. Frei stated that it will make the part of the road under contract cost approximately ?66,000. A promise of a contract to be let to surface this road, immediately following the completion of the grading contract, was made by W. D. Hammond, chairman of the state road commission. The road to be constructed under the present contract is 8.73 miles long. Added to the road recently completed, will give this section a road from St. George to Diamond Valley that will be ready for surfacing. This will make an expenditure of over 586,000 on this road with the surfacing contract con-tract yet to be let. Total length of road from St. George to Diamond Dia-mond Valley to be built is nearly 11 Vo miles long. |
