Show News of the County Seat Mrs. Delman Abbott of Bunk-erville, Bunk-erville, Nevada entered the local hospital Saturday night to receive re-ceive medical treatment. Her husband and youngest daughter are spending a few weeks here visiting at the home of her parents par-ents Mr. and Mrs. Brigham Prisbrey Pris-brey and at the home of his sister sis-ter ,Mrs. Gus Pendleton. -Vr. and Mrs Hebtr CJtam had as guests in their home over Thanksgiving holidays, Dr. and Mrs. Glenn Orton of Hannah, Wyoming and Alma Cottarn who is attending the University at Salt Lake City this winter. Mr. and Mrs. Orval Hafen entertained en-tertained at a turkey dinner Sunday Sun-day evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wood of Salt Lake City who a.re spending a few weeks here. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Laron Andrus, Mr. and Mrs. D. Eldon Beck, Mr. and Mrs. Willis R. Dunkley, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Snow and the guests of honor. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dorst of Logan are spending some time here, Mr. Dorst is assisting E. W. Davis. Miss Enid Webb who is confined confin-ed to her bed from injuries sustained sus-tained in a fall last week was pleasantly surprised by members of the Home Room Class under the direction of Mrs. Beth Sch-mutz Sch-mutz Monday evening. Visiting was enjoyed and refreshments served. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Palmer of Alton are here to spend the winter win-ter working in the temple. The Washington County Commissioners Com-missioners left Monday for Ogden to attend the convention of county coun-ty officers which is being held there on Tuesday and Wednesday Wednes-day of this week. Miss Virginia Prince entertained entertain-ed at a birthday dinner party at her home on Monday evening. The table was attractively decorated decor-ated andi covers were laid for Miss Lena Besenderfer, Evelyn Snow, Nellie Snow, Ada Hafen, LaBerta Benson, Dessie Jones, Merlene Fawcett and Miss Prince. Miss Fawcett was unable to be present. Rook was enjoyed during dur-ing the evening and high score prize was awarded to Miss Nellie Snow. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ward and son are here to make their home. Mr. Ward has been employed since last March in the Emigration Emigra-tion Patrol Department and they have made their home at El Centro, California. Alex Whipple returned home last Thursday from the Irpn County hospital at Cedar City where he spent the past three weeks recovering from an operation opera-tion for ruptured appendix. Reed Gardner, vice-president and manager of the Southern Utah Power Company Mr. Prothro, a company engineer from the Northwest, Clyde Colville, Deisel engineer and Max Llewelyn local engineer were business visitors in St. George the fore part of the week. Mrs. A. B. Andrus and daughter Mrs. Pearl Smith spent Monday in Cedar City visiting Mrs. H. Val Hafen and daughter Miss Helen and Mrs. Arthur Paxman. They reported the latter two to be suffering considerable pain from injuries received in the accident Friday. Calvert Andrus who spent the week end here from Cedar City where te is employed em-ployed went up with them. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Snow left Friday tor Salt Lake City to spend a few days on business. Mr. and Mrs. Berry Williams of Kanarra spent Monday in St. George visiting relatives and friends and transacting business. Mrs. Irene Miller left Friday for Salt Lake City to visit relatives rela-tives and friends and attend to business affairs. Mrs. Vilate Lewis and three daughters of Salt Lake City arrived ar-rived here Wednesday to visit her sister, Mrs. Glenn Prisbrey. Clifford Empey of Salt. Lake City spent the fore part of the week in St. George visiting his mother and transacting business in connection with the youth movement in which he is interested. in-terested. Mrs. Vernon Snow left the local hospital on Saturday recovering nicely from an operation she underwent un-derwent a few weeks ago for ruptured appendix. Mrs. Josiah Leavitt who underwent un-derwent a major operation at the local hospital on Monday is reported re-ported to be making satisfactory improvement. The South ward Wednesday-Night Wednesday-Night Temple club met at the home of Mrs. Daniel Heaton following fol-lowing the evening session and enjoyed gospel discussions, visiting visit-ing and refreshments. The meeting next Wednesday will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Pendleton. "All ward members attending at-tending the session are invited to attend. Gilbert Heaton of Moccasin, Arizona who underwent an operation oper-ation at the local hospital last week is getting along nicely. Mrs. Elmer R. Gibson of Hurricane Hur-ricane underwent an operation for goitre at the local hospital on Wednesday. Mrs. N. J. Wadsworth left Thursday morning for Salt Lake City to spend a few days with her daughter, Jennie who is attending at-tending business college there. |
