Show Hurricane F. F. A. Boys Entertain At Dinner and Ball Trip of 1600 Miles Cost Bovs Only $3.50 Each; Outstanding Outstand-ing Work of Hurricane Boys Told; Harvest Ball Held HURRICANE, Utah Declaring that the local F. F. A. chapter had shown a gross income of $3,-000 $3,-000 and had made an additional $252.00 that boys had allotted themselves for labor, Emil Graff, instructor told the 200 fathers and sons that had gathered for their annual banquet of some of the accomplishments of the local boys. The banquet was held Saturday night, December 5 in the school auditorium. In addition to this Mr. Graff told of the trip to Yellowstone Park last summer, explaining that the 1600-mile trip had cost each member $3.50. He told of some of the accomplishments of the individual members including Lawrence Hinton, son of, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Hinton, who had received the Union Pacific scholarship schol-arship of $100 to the U. S. A. C. and was the only Future Farmer in Utah to receive the degree of American Farmer last year. Sumner Hatch, director of agriculture ag-riculture at Cedar City, complimented compli-mented Mr. Graff upon the accomplishments ac-complishments of the boys. He gave especial praise to the work of Eldrow Reeve, who two years ago while a senior at Hurricane high school, was president of the state organization of F. F. A. Mr. Piatt, president of the Cedar City chapter and L. B. Bennett, principal of the Hurricane Hurri-cane high school, encouraged Mr. Graff and his boys in the outstanding out-standing work that they are doing. Harvest liall Following the banquet a well-attended well-attended Harvest Ball was given by the F. F. A. Miss Norene Stratton was crowned "Queen of the Ball" by Elton Stout. Miss Stratton is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stratton. She is a Junior at the high school. Other contestants for the throne were as follows: Lenora Wilson, Senior; Sen-ior; Muriel Stratton, Sophomore; and Barbara Tweedie, Freshman. Musical Xunibers Musical numbers presented 'at the banquet included a stringed trio comprised of Eldon Russell, Emerold Jennings and Newel De-Mille. De-Mille. A cowboy song was sung by Orrin Duncan, Clive Woodbury Wood-bury and Jack Woodbury. James Jepson gave an impromptu number, num-ber, Bullwhacker's son. The Future Fu-ture Farmers' creed was presented pres-ented by Cark Ballard. |
