Show Fort Pierce Wash Bridge Dedicated At Saturday Meet Speakers Tell Of Hardships " Endured by Pioneers and Handicap Poor Roads Have Been; Laud CCC Boys. Dedicatory services for the bridge, constructed by the Cedar City stub camp located at Leeds, over the Fort Pierce wash, were held Saturday afternoon at 2 p. m. The St. George Chamber of Commerce Com-merce was in charge with Will Lore. Jr., representing the organization. organ-ization. .Morris Wilson, ccunty commissioner commis-sioner was the first speaker called oq by Mr. Love. He expresssed the appreciation of the county to all who had taken part in the erection of the bridge. He declared de-clared that it was a wonderful asset as-set to the county and to this whole section of the counry. ' Mayor Albert E. Miller told how he bridge was constructed of two ether bridges with one section having hav-ing been used over the Weber river and then at North Creek and now here. He spoke of the line construction work that had gene into the bridge and mention-id mention-id the fact that the city had cooperated co-operated in furnishing water and hose at first. The value of the woik to the boys, and to the people of this region was stressed by Mayor Miller. V. B. Mathis, stockman, who has traveled all over the road onto i he strip and to the Colorado ' river, stated that he had seen it developed from pack trails to a wagon road and from a wagon j read to a poor car road and now to the fine road that is being built. Mr. Matins said, "I have spent many a day on the banks of this wash waiting for the water to it recede until it was safe to cross." y He went on to say, "The CCC , camps are one of the (greatest things that has ever come to this country." Superintendent Harold P. Richards, Rich-ards, under whose supervision the bridge wias constructed, gave la brief description of the material, work done and some of the prob-ems prob-ems connected with building the bridge. D. D. McKay, regional supervisor, super-visor, told how he had spent forty years on the range and spoke of Mw glad he was that the organiz- ation with which he was associated associ-ated was able to do so much good 'or the range and stockmen. f' The speakers were anxious that 'to officers and supervisors pre-s'nt pre-s'nt carry their appreciation to te boys who did the work.
