Show Report Successful Deer Hunting Season On Dixie Preserve Nearly 1,000 Hunters Reported Report-ed Checking Through at the Santa Clara Station; Large Deer Brought In. With ovoi- 1200 California-hunters checking through the stations of- the Dixie National forest, the largest group of foreign hunters to invade this section has been ecorded. The checking station at the Shevwit Indian reservation reports re-ports better than 90 of the California" Cal-ifornia" hunters are checking out with their deer. Lee Kay, educational director of the Utah State Fish and Game department, states that of the 994 hunters who have checked out of the Santa Clara station 8 60 have had their deer. This is not quite as high percentage as last year, but Mr. Kay declares that when the Modena, Shevwit and Santa Clara stations are all added together to-gether it should show as high as the 8 6 record established last year. With Mr. Kay are Thomas M. Argyle, head of the law enforcement enforce-ment division, and Rulon Gull, deputy warden. These men have made careful check on the hunt and report that the California hunters are enthusiastic in their praise for deer hunting on the Dixie preserve. They also report that in most cases they are high in praise of the treatment received while here. Some, however, assert they were practically held-up for their accomodations and are going go-ing out with a bad feeling toward the whole section. Large Doer Some of the largest deer to be reported were bagged by Sheriff Antona Prince and his party of seven.
